How on earth could anyone answer that question. What's your motivation for asking it? If I may be so bold. |

Probably a few riots, depending on the motivation, but I doubt a war would take place. |

We'd be in grief as a country, but that would bring us together, not start a war with each other. |

It is highly unlikely. There would be a morning period but the most violence that might come out of it are a few riots and possibly some Caucasians being attacked the same way Arabs were attacked in America after 9/11.
In order for us to have a true Civil War, several states would have to secede the Union and then declare war against the United States. Such a thing isn't possible in modern times for several reasons:
1. It is ILLEGAL for a state to attempt to secede from the US. Congress wouldn't allow it.
2. Even if they could secede, they wouldn't have control of any troops because all troops ultimately fall under the President of the United States (who would be Joe Biden if President Obama was unable to serve anymore). National Guard troops fall under the Governor of the state but the Federal Government can simply mobilize them, taking them out of the control of the Governor of the state.
3. No Governor in their right mind would secede anyway since not too many of them could sustain themselves if they completely separated from the Federal Government. The assasination of the sitting president isn't reason enough to secede, since barring an conspiracy, the assasination would most likely be the work of a lone gunman or an hate group (KKK, Neo-Nazis, etc).
In the unfortunate situation such a thing would happen, we would mourn, swear in Joe Biden, and move on. President Obama would still be a part of history regardless. |

fight obama's lies

Assassination of Obama as a trigger for a civil war?
Only reasonable assumption for civil unrest would be if it was a RACIALLY based assassination.
I hope not. I dislike the guy and I want him out of the Oval Office but I SURE don't want him dead.

An assination would be a major catalyst for a civil war, indeed.
An assassination on the other hand...no. |

OK. First of all, who would succeed from the Union. Second, what governor in there right mind would think of succeeding from the Union. Congress would not allow it, the senate would not allow it. It would be considered a terrorist attack unless otherwise noted. Chances of a civil war happening in America, are slim and next to none. |
