I guess that to many Iraqis it might sound like a good idea but if the coalition does withdraw, the civil unrest will escalate substantially. It would result in a virtual bloodbath with all three sides trying to take control of this economic gem.

The current puppet government seems to be lining their pockets and doing little else to bring order to the country. One thing you can count on is that Iraq will end up being no friend of the western world if America pulls out now.

While the Iraq war is unpopular and most Americans would love to see it over, it would be very dangerous for the entire Middle East. Without a fully credible government and a well equipped army the Iraqis cannot maintain order in their own country. It may be bad now, but the powder keg would explode if we left now.
Such a strategy has been done before. We withdrew from South Vietnam and the country was overrun within two years. For decades after that, millions of Vietnamese have become refugees from an oppressive Communist regime, and we, along with other nations around the world have had to provide new lives for these displaced persons. While it was a scar for the US, to allow Iraq to become a virtual no-man's-land in a region as volatile as the Middle East would have dire consequences.
Take the case of Afghanistan. We armed and trained the Muhajadeen to fight the Soviets and they won and we thought our job was done. Training and equipping radical guerrilla fighters and then leaving them to their own fate allowed the more radical elements to gain control of the country and Afghanistan became a haven for terrorists, including al-Queda. Sparing further details, we know how that went.
At best Iraq would become another radical Islamic state like Iran, at worst it would rip the country completely apart, and threaten to do the same to the whole region. I'm not spouting the Bush Administration line, what I am saying is that history has shown that unfinished business will always catch up to you. We shouldn't be leaving, we should be finding valid ways to give the Iraqi government more validity in the eyes of the people, putting more resources into their military, improving their infrastructure, and bringing in neutral envoys to convince the warring factions (or some of them) to sit down to talks. Not just military force, because that alone will only create more refugees and insurgents. It is not what anyone wants to hear, but simply put, you break it, you buy it.

I tend to think not! How can we, we are in this big time even if we pull out it isn't over. These people have been fighting since the begining of time and are still fighting over things that happened then. It is a great thought and I wish it could be that easy. I really believe they need a completely different approach; I have ideas but I am not going to suggest any in this answer because I am no Military expert.

The only way I can see it maybe happening is to completely send all people from that region home that are not leagal citizens and completly closing the borders; not leting anyone from that region back into this country.

Absolutely. See that stuff going on in Darfur? That's great, isn't it? Well, if you like Darfur, just wait till we pull out of Iraq. You ain't seen NOTHIN' yet. The day after we pull out, the population of Iraq is going to drop like a 3 inch putt by Tiger Woods, BAM, it's in the hole!

No question about it, we need to pull out and let someone who really knows how to kill Iraqis take over and get the job done. Preferably someone who wants Armageddon and is ready to deal with it. All we're doing is holding up Progress. That's why we need to elect a Progressive who will get us out so the world can move on from these silly notions of "freedom" and "security".
