The responsibility for the military is to protect the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
so if the uprising is to destroy the constitution the military will defend it against the uprising.
if the uprising is because the government is destroying the constitution the military duties will be to protect it. |

No state can lawfully secede from the United States of America. The US Military, acting under orders from the Commander in Chief (aka The President) will intervene on behalf of the federal government.
In other words, see what happened during the American Civil War. |

Yes they would but it depends on the cause of the uprising. The men and women in uniform do have brains, if they agreed with the uprising you'd have a hard time getting them to do anything about it.
If the uprising consisted of a bunch of fringe loonies you can count on them beating it the fukc down post haste. |

Some of the military would probably support the uprising some would be against it and a lot would run away to get to there families to make sure there safe |

Hundreds of Americans kill each other all the time. You name it there getting killed over it. The Government hasn't put a stop to it yet. Sure they have the local police but nobody really cares. Only the people that it effects care about it. However I do think that the Government would step in, but only to save face, and look like we are still the strong Nation we once were. It's all about saving face, and looking strong.Other than that they don't care. I just read an article on yahoo the other day that was talking about the U.S. Government paying off Afghan war lords for protection. Do you really think this Government cares? No there basically funding the war that's killing our troops. If a Civil war ever did break out, I would hope that Obama ( who is our enemy) would be the prime target. |

I agree with Flak if its a uprising the National Guard in the state/states it is occurring in will be called up and deployed to put it down and the U.S. Active Military will be called in to it only if the state's National Guard cannot handle it alone. If it is a Civil War it would turn out the same way it did before with soldiers deciding their loyalties individually with the entirety of the remaining U.S. military fighting against the rebel faction. |

I feel, with the current situation surrounding the Obama regime and its clear corruption, circumvention of USA constitution, blatant bias and racism favoring so-called minorities (especially Blacks), and total disregard for the wishes of USA citizens, that an upraising is inevitable and will occur unless this Obama and his henchmen step aside It is doubtful that the USA military will remain loyal in such a situation and not remove the tyrant from office. Obama, and Obama alone is forcing a second civil war on the USA citizens. He is misjudging his support among the USA population. |

Yes they would.
A Civil War implies that someone is trying to do something against the government or the Constitution and one side of the civil war would be a "domestic threat."
The President and Congress would have to act on it and determine the role the military would play in it.
Just look at the US Civil War for example. The US Military was against the CSA Military. Congress and the President gave the military their guidance and limitations. |

This is an extremely difficult question. Yes in therory the Active military would be called up if it involved mulitple states across the country. The National Guard would be called up first to deal with the local problems of that state but it can get tricky.
Lets use the previous Civil War as a templete. Lets say that the battle lines are drawn as they were. The local government have control of the National Guard so those can be called up to assist in those states. I.E. South Carolina calls up the SC National Guard and bam, they are now a membeer of the Southern States fight against the North. Now the federal government could try to take control of the National Guard but they all live in SC so why would most of them even want to go.
Now we get to the Active military. I will use SC as an example. Acitive military are from all over. If my unit got activated here in SC I would be willing because I am from Ohio and support the North. My peers might be from SC, Georgia, etc and less likely to want to support the mission. We would be stagnated by in fighting and sabatoge from the inside out and the same would happen to units across the nation.
Now to throw and even more twist, you have a Commander that receives orders and he is in charge of a Stealth Bomber wing. He gets orders to attack a Southern Target but that is his home town. Does he follow orders, change the orders, or ignore the orders. It all depends on the individual.
It would be a mess that I hope no one in this country ever see's first hand |

Hello TSW,
Absolutely. Martial Law would be declared by the President.
The National Guard of the various states would be called up to duty to quell riots and put down insurrection.
If the were not enough the active duty forces would come into play to prevent an overthrow of the US Government.
It's all in the Constitution.
Best wishes,

only time will tell....just remember marxism, fascism dictates that 10% to 20% of the population has to be destroyed for it work ! it would make the civil war look like a picnic.... |

Well the Constitution delegates that the President is their Commander-In-Chief
Their responsibility is to do what the president tells them too. If the president orders them to do something completely outlandish then it is assumed Congress will step in and intervene.
Our military is largely decentralized...The Air Force, Army Navy and Marines operate independently of each other yet are dependent on another...Army can't operate without Air Force Navy marines etc etc.
My geuss will be the military will be neutral during a mass uprising or a civil war |

How would the U.S. military be upholding the Constitution by standing idle while millions of Americans killed each other?
The Constitution isn't a piece of paper to be protected in a museum. The Constitution represents the American people. The military is tasked to defend the American people from "all enemies foreign and domestic".
The duty of the American military is to follow the lawful orders of America's civilian government. The U.S. President is the Commander-in-Chief of the military for this reason.
History tells us that if the United States were to break apart based upon geographic lines, as it did during the Civil War (1861 - 1865), then the military may fragment along geographic lines too. |

CG what in the world would make you think that. You are uninformed and should look into the real facts vs. not what you hear on FOX News "Faux News" and Rush Limbaugh. The restrictions were placed on automatic assault weapons. These weapons have no use in general population and should be reserved for police and miltitary purposes only. Hands guns, rifles and shotguns are all the general population should need for home defense and hunting. |

The way they're being treated by our current regime? I think they would join in against the Democrats. There's a reason Carter and Clinton passed laws where no guns are allowed on military bases, otherwise this Major Hasan would have never pulled off what he did. |

An Egyptian uprising is highly unlikely to happen in the US. The reason for that is Democracy. The Egyptians are fighting for what US already has. When the Americans did not like what the Democrats did the last 2 years they voted them out. The Egyptians do not have that choice right now, they have to take to the streets in order to get Mumbarak out. They can’t vote him out. In the US we can vote anyone out. |
