Marine Wife Mom of 3
 |
Well, that was my deal. I grew up in a military town. Always swore I would never date a Marine. My friend set me up on a blind date and not knowing he was a Marine I went. I married him a year later. :) We've been together 13 years now. |

I wouldn't date a man whether he was in the military, or not. |

When a woman picks a man, she picks him for who he is as a person; as long as you remain a good person, I see no reason why a woman shouldn't date you just because you're in the military. |

I wouldn't date any man, regardless of his enlistment status. I just don't swing that way. |

The person would have to be extremely ignorant to military life (which most people are), there's no reason to not date someone in the military because it's literally just like a regular job. It's not like a controlling cult. Deployments are about all that needs to be thought about.. everything else is irrelevant. If you the bf/gf lives in the same city as the base then you would still get to see each other all the time. The only thing that would keep you apart is him or her not being to get on base without being accompanied by you or another military member. If you end up marrying, they gain access to the base and all the services there....
Depending on your branch, you may never be deployed or get deployed rarely. I know someone who has been in for over 8 years and still has not been deployed.... he's air force and there is nothing making him ineligible to be deployed, his job just doesn't deploy. |

not only did i date one but i dated a bunch in my lifetime, now im settled down and married the last one i dated he is out now, and he is great. just like any other group of people there are good people and bad. being in the military don't change you if you don't let it. Military men the good ones are the best to have. not only can they provide and not lose their job ( real easily) but they have a sense of commitment and loyalty that most don't. |

I've been a military girlfriend and believe me, it's hard. Long distance relationships, especially those in which physical contact is limited to once or twice a year are difficult and hard to manage if you don't keep a positive attitude. I would have no problem dating a man in the military. I liked being a USMC girlfriend. It didn't bother me at all.
I'm currently dating a guy who's mentioned the option of joining the Air Force, and I'd be ok with that. It would be hard but I know without a doubt that I could do it and remain faithful.
It takes a special kind of woman (and man) to handle military relationships. Make sure you can trust the woman you decide to date completely if you join any branch. Trust is the most important factor in a relationship. |

When I met my husband he was already in the military. You don't date or love someone based on their profession. He was deployed during our first year of marriage. Yes it's hard to have him gone but when you love someone it's not difficult to wait. Its selfish to disregard someone because of being in the military. We have been married now for six years. You will know you have the right person when the accept you for you. |

It depends, it is kind of appealing that a man is in the military. It kind of does make them better, but the only problem is like marrying them though. If a man is in the military there is the chance of death whcih is hard to cope with. i honestly am not sure. |

I would be more worried about the opinion of your fellow soldiers. You will find yourself very much alone in political position because so few liberal serve. That being said, your opinion and your position is yours and no one else's business. There are always women wanting to date soldiers for many reasons. Most of those women are good conservatives also! Best of luck and you should make your decision based on how you feel about serving not about women! |

i typically don't get along with the military type. I have tons of friends who are enlisted but i could never date any of them due to certain traits that keep popping up. |

Yeah, i wouldn't date a guy in the military. a.)he might die b.) he'll be gone alot c.) if he survives war he may have issues physical or mental d.) the military does something weird to people and they aren't the same when they get out. period. |

Honestly I have dated a couple men in the military and I can say a lot of them are liars about their reality life. While they are away from home these men make a new life for themselves at their new duty station. I'll tell you about three men I dated. 1. This man was married with children back home and was only at the base for school. A week before he graduated he told me he was going home to his wife and children and was turning off the phone I had which was a prepaid phone. 2. This man was single but had a baby on the way and promise the baby mother that he would marry her. 3. This man was single with no kids but crazy. Very over protective and never wanted me to go no where. We fought all the time and at one point it go abusive.
So you see why I can't date a military man anymore. |
