Would you recommend a person join the military today?

If you don't want to deploy than don't join period. Even if the curent wars were wrapped up before you join (they won't be) other wars will follow - thats why we keep a military (to fight them).

Yes but everybody is going to see deployment if they make a career out of it, and they will see it if they only do 4 years

Sure you could, you could join the navy, which 95% of its people doesn't see battle, you just go on deployments on ship. Which is where the ship goes to different places around the world, but not to battle.
Plus sides are housing, no housing taxes (electricity, water, waste etc.) and job security.

Is it possible to not be deployed overseas...absolutely. Is it probable...negative. However, does the military offer more than just conflict and war...yes it does. For quite a few people it's a great career choice.

Yes I would recommend a person join the military but for good reasons not the misconception that they will never see battle. If you are thinking of joining and never see deployment, you should consider another form of employment. Even when a nation is at peace, there is always a chance for deployment and battle.

In these days and times no I don't I fill there is to much going on around us to not be at war with some one but I due fill if I had a son or daughter I would be prod to see them serve there country if it was for are country

Never seeing a deployment and never seeing a deployment to a hostile zone are different. If you want to be in the action then join the army or marines....if you want to stay back a little ways join the air force. It depends on the job you take in either branch.

There is always the chance to get deployed. If you don't want to get sent anywhere outside the US, don't join the Military. They will send your butt where every they think it's needed and your head better be in close proximity.

If you join the military, don't count on not getting deployed. It's possible, but don't count on it. My dad had a career in the Navy that spanned three wars (WWII, Korea, Vietnam) and never was in a combat zone, but it was pure luck.

You can try going into an Admin MOS. Even if those guys did get deployed they never left the safety of the base or the office, yet they came back with a ton of chest candy (awards like Combat Action Ribbons, Achievement Medals, Commendation Medals, Bronze Stars, etc)

I haven't heard of an Admin guy getting killed or injured in action.

Yes, You can choose where you want to go. If you are looking to go into the Canadian Forces, there are many different routes.

-Infantry
-Armoured
-Gunner, etc.

And you can choose to go on the missions, serve the country. Or to stay in Reserves and not get sent out of the country. Anyone could have a solid career path in the military.

The way Obama is tanking the economy, the mlitary may be the only sure employment left soon.
