Wouldn't it be nice if we could all support our troops?

Regardless of your personal opinions of the war or Bush's policies or the moral and political issues, it would sure be wonderful if our society could support the men and women who are doing their duty.
The very basis of being an American and having the freedom we do is based on the concept of a proud few standing up and fighting for what they believed was right regardless of what seemed popular. From the Revolutionary War to present time, war has never been the preferrence, merely something that had to be accepted.
I want to see each and every American soldier come home to a country that views them as heroes who did their duty regardless of whether they agreed with. I want to see us embrace these men and women who risk their lives because their country told them they should. Do not bring our soldiers home to more hostility. We have seen the tragedy of bringing our soldiers home only to call them baby kilers. No soldier deserves such dishonor.
Ever soldier deserves honor! Additional Details york: 1st, I will compare this war to the Revolutionary war & every other war in which young men & women died for this country. Right, wrong or indifferent, these soldiers do a duty that many of us are unwilling or unable to do. They protect the freedom of those who cannot or will not protect their own freedom.
2nd, I will compare this war to anything I want as you seem to find it OK to compare me to a Nazi
3rd, I never said war was necessary. I said it was "merely something that had to be accepted." And it does. Unless you are going to stand out there between the mortor shells & stop it or run for office to prevent it there is little you can do.
Lastly, the very arguement proves war is part of life. Not everthing can be resolved peacefully. I don't agree w/ this particular war, but I'm a realist & I know that things happen. If you truely believe you can live a life w/o war, never argue w/ someone again. See how many people walk all over you if you sit passively. There is no utopia!

I fought so that you have the right to belittle me. Thanks!
Without solders there would be no USA. A military gov. that does not like us would sweep in and take our freedoms. Regardless of how peaceful we are. The comment of No solders= no war is just plain wrong. History is my proof.
When I got back a group of Marines went out looking for someone to call us baby killers. All we found was free drinks and easy chicks. Thanks to all the drink buyers and that group of ladies on their "chicks night out".
There is no substitution for brute force when dealing with people that wouldn't listen to reason. I support my brothers but not the war. I do this by challenging my local gov. to do what is right and help my fellow Marines by being a KEY Volunteer. |

First of all, no one does not support the people sent overseas to fight. No one in this country blames the individuals in the armed forces for the war itself.
But this yellow ribbon Support the Troops polemic is neo-conservative crap to prevent the protests of the 60's by victimizing the soldiers instead of the actual victims of war, namely the families surviving those who died because of the war.
Supporting the soldiers is supporting the war whether you want to or not. Its a polemic that the americans have bought into. "don't blame the soldiers. blame the politicians." BS. If soldiers didn't exist, no one would be other there dying for the twisted wants of our political civilian leaders. If soldiers refused to go to war, then no war would be fought.
The soldiers have some responsibility. Granted, not as much as the leaders who sent them there. But of all people to protest and stop this unjustified war in iraq, the families of the soldiers and the soldiers themselves should be first inline.
In other words, instead of preaching Support our soldiers, we should be preaching Bring our Soldiers Home. Stop Killing our Soldier Husbands and Fathers.
The best way to support the soldiers is to stop the war. Until that it realized, supporting the soldiers is supporting the war.
and a bad dishonorable war stains the honor of the men that serve. If you want to honor the soldiers, fight to bring them home from a terrible and illegitimate war, based on lies and twisting of truth and plausible denial by a corrupt white house and Congress.
I believe in supporting our soldiers and restoring honor to those that serve and to our country. And the best way is to not support the war. Get the soldiers home, and then quit being soldiers all together until we have to fight a war WORTH fighting for. |

i have no problem with supporting the troops. I hold our government criminally accountable for putting them unnecessrily in harm's way.
Bush and his administration are no better than war criminals, thieves and murderers. As for the ones coming home missing arms and legs, or with brain injuries caused by the concussions from IEDs , as well as the one's with PTSD, why would I think any less of them for how and where they served? I have every reason to dispise the liars who sent them there. |

I support the troops big time. My son is in Iraq and he says while so many say they support the troops, but not the war the insurgents get way more pumped up and create more havac because they are sure they will win. They even taunt the troops when arrested that they will win, because our country is against it and will run. I feel a lot of our soldiers have died because of it. |

When I first got back from Iraq you wouldnt believe the amount of people that just dont care and dont support the people that die for them. Liberals are anti-military (along with anti-everything else), well if there is no "red neck losers that cant make it in life and have to join the military", then who will protect this country. I just lost a good friend 2 days ago that was still in iraq, liberals could care less but to call it another life lost for nothing. it wasnt for nothing, he died for his country, for you, and for me. liberals know nothing of Honor. |

thats all fine and dandy except what you neo natzi's that seem to think that its not ok for others to have their own opinion seem to forget, that is just because we are against this war, against this pseudo president and against what our troops are doing, doesn't mean we don't support the troops. Supporting the troops doesn't have to including being proud of the injustice they are doing!
And how dare you compare this unjust war in iraq to the American Revolution! War is not something that merely has to be accepted, war is NOT necessary! It is you blood natzi's that make it necessary! |

I have to say it's about time I hear something positive about our military people... I will relay your message to the troops! There are websites you can visit to offer support! Military wives struggling to make two ends meet, military children without their parents home and families left behind because a loved one died to save the very people who whine,[----] and moan about things, you could give your support in many ways! Baby killers? Don't you think it's strange that some of the same people who complain about our military support a woman's right to have an abortion... military service members have always been attacted by their fellowman... it will not stop untill ignorance is stopped! Every soldier is honored... the Bible says to gather thy warriors and defend thy country, it also says these warriors are the peacemakers! Still there are those who will complain because they are ignorant to the facts. Our soldiers are our peacemakers! God Bless them all! |

yes that would be nice, but there are kooks out there who just hate bush and the war, so they hate the troops in the war |

When did our nation turn into a bunch of *******? The soldiers can be blamed for nothing but good. They do the dirty, necessary work. They take orders. And it is very necessary. What are we to do wothout an army? Humans are conquerers. Everyone should at least give respect and thanks to the troops, and that does not mean you support the war. |

Supporting the troops is a given. They are the ones who have shed their blood so that we don't have to.
However
Supporting the war is not a given and also not nearly the same thing. There is hardly any denying that Vietnam was a black eye on American military history. Just because the war turned out badly doesn't mean that we should shun the troops that were forced over there. I think this is something that must be kept in mind since it seems we've learned nothing from the past. Instead of criticizing 'Liberals' for not honoring the lives of the troops, I think it would be more appropriate to demonify those who are wasting them. I know that nothing but anger can come from the troops who read this and saw the faces of American soldiers that perished in my stead. I would, however, expect them to question whether or not I'm the cause for their plight and not those who decided they should go to Iraq. I hope that each and every soldier finds his or her way home safely and that in the future I find some missing piece of the puzzle that can make me believe in this war. |
