Many Americans scream bloody murder if they see something that is considered disrespect towards the flag, while they wear a flag bandana, which according to the US Flag Code is disrespect. If you really want to show respect for the flag, read the US Flag Code which is public law and you will see that you most likely disrespected the flag at one point. If you like to complain, read the Code and shut your mouth. |

Sheeple? Funny word for a parrot? After your Billy Boy admited to breaking the law, on television?
Sheeple? From a parrot who can only recite trite, mundane, thread bare phrases. Get some new material Doris. |

It is always so nice to read an unintelligible question asked by one who is so tolerant of others; regardless of their beliefs. Gee, isn't this what America is all about.
Feel free to fly this nation's flag how ever you feel appropriate. No doubt some liberal judge will give you a big thumbs up.
But for those of us that have served this country in uniform, those who have been to Iraq and still believe in America....just don't do it anywhere near us. Thanks....... |

Of course it would not be appropriate. Many Americans do not share your "opinion" of the president or how our flag should be flown. |

It's you who simply is too uninformed to understand.
Get a crayon and write this down...
The Islamic Extermists won't stop until everyone is converted or dead. OR they are dead...
If you don't think we should be fighting them overseas, then wait and they will be here, knocking on your door...convert or die! Maybe you're willing to become a Muslim; I'm not, so I back Bush. |

Obviously you have never done anything that would cause you to feel the chill on your neck when you see the flag. It is nothing but a piece of cloth to you. To myself and others who have served, that flag is the greatest symbol of liberty and freedom in the world. It represents the sacrifices of millions who would lay down their lives in order to protect the county and freedoms you take for granted when you spout off your asine drivel. |

There was another question about the dumbest question on answers. Here it is. |

America is not in the kind of distress(or degree) that would require flying the flag upside down, so it would be disrespect.
But feel free to show disrespect in that way. I have smashed the rear windows of 7 parked cars already and rescued the flag they were disrespecting and properly burned them. Post your address, and your plate number, I'll get to yours in time. |

NO. Why don't you grow up? You went to name calling before anyone even answered the question, not that its any more appropriate to do it after they answer. Grow up. |

Are you kidding. That is an in-salt to my country. What does this have to do with you not likeing Bush |

Obviously, you are in distress with your question ... |

I'm just going to give an answer in relevance to your question.
The answer is no.
The country is technically not in a distress per-say. Unless the CONUS (CONtinential United States) is suffering the aftermath of a nuclear, biological, or chemical attack, or a major natural disaster resulting in 40% of its national population being displaced or lost, then it is nowhere in a distress condition.
Of course, the effects of Sept 11 has cause many people to believe that the country is in a quasi state of distress (which is not entirely false), so its an individual perspective, one that I'm not going to argue about.
The reason I gave no, is that a flag is a national symbol. To fly it upside down is to signify to the international community that the country is in a state of distress. This message is not something a country wants to project to the world casually. The media is everywhere, not just ours, but those from other nations. The worse possible thing to do now is to send such a message to the global community. Panic, fear and doubt are contagious human sentiments, once spread, its extremely difficult to curtail and contain.
======================================...
As a former armed force personnel, the flag is not just a symbol for me, its the country. And I'll be damned to wake up on day to see it upside down. I'll be dead before that ever happens. But this is just my opinion. Feel free to disregard this if you don't agree with it.
======================================...
Anyway, to fly the flag upside down for the sake of getting the President to step down is not a good idea (I'm an independent, with no party affiliation). The reasons, namely:
1) This is a huge country (lots of people keep forgetting that). Its not easy to run, manage, and sustain it effectively and efficiently.
2) You can't make everyone happy (again lots of people keep missing out on this point). Trying to make everyone happy eventually makes everyone unhappy because lots of promises being made are not going to be kept. Its better to say a flat no to dispel any form of false hope.
3) International relations, combined with domestic issues makes for a whole lot of headaches. Its the small scale equivalent of a conflict with your wife/girfriend and having a dispute with your family at the same time.
Rather than waste time and energy doing demonstrations and stuffs, why not engage yourself in productive endeavors like volunteer work and things that brings relief to the less fortunate ones.
Don't envy the prestige of the President's job (I won't trade anything for it), its not an easy one, and its already commendable that the country's state of affair is not in the dumps now. |

Not really a good idea. Just take it down until you feel the time is right to put it back up.
Putting is upside down just demeans the entire nation. |

NOPE that would be just dumb. Kind of like you. Sounds like you are in distress. Make you own country somewhere and fly your flag, (probably your skid marked tighty whities) anyway you want. As for real Americans we will keep ours upright. |

Get it right - flying the flag upside down is a signal to others that you are in distress. Distress does not mean not getting your way. Hostage situations in an embassy, mutiny on a naval ship, those are correct distress situations.
I guess since I am answering from the South you consider me a "dumbed down Redneck", and "pitifully uneducated". Those statements only quantify your incredible deficiency in acquaintance of facts. The concomitant repercussions are simply to magnanimous for me to dignify with verbage! |

Unfortunately no. It isn't appropriate to fly the flag upside down. Whether you agree with President Bush or not (I happen to NOT agree with him), he was fairly elected - at least, he was the second time around. The U.S. President orders how the flag shall be flown at any given time. The U.S. isn't in distress right now, it is misled. You and everybody else who is a registered voter can do something about that in a few short weeks. |

I don't necessarily disagree with your statement that the country is in distress..although I wouldn't go that far. It has nothing to do with Bush, however..and you need to get it through your head that Republicans are not all "redneck sheeple"..there are educated and intelligent Republicans, just as there are Democrats...If people like you ever make up the majority, I will support your upside down flag flying. |
