can you go back into the millitary if you claimed disability?

I get 10% disability from the VA for ptsd and now I want to go back into the Marines, is this possible? is there a way around it a waiver or something or can I undo the Claim?
please dont answer unless you actually know what your talking about please thanks!

@ LOVE.....obviosly you havent served in the military...I never "claimed" anything. after I got out and did a psyc eval they dermined I had ptsd. which you probably also know nothing about. By the new definition anyone whos been in combat and then had a bad dream about it or thought about it has ptsd....I dont consider myself to have any problems at all, it was the VA that dermined I have ptsd....

You will have to get a paper from your VA doctor that says you are good to go and can go back into the military. But it is possible to reenlist after getting a VA disability rating. My husband tried to get back into the Marine Corps with a 80% but his doctor at the VA wouldn't okay it so his reenlisting was a no go. He got real depressed, my poor baby. He was doing it so that we could get tri-care again. Turns out his injuries were worse then he thought and this past year they increased him to 90% + 10% individual unemployability so he can't even work now. He got hit with an IED while on a convoy driving a 7 ton, so his back is screwed up for life. So now im trying to reenlist but i got wieght i gotta lose and i gotta get in shape. But since im his caretaker it makes it hard for me.

But know this alright hun, once you give up your disability you give it permanently okay. Considering it's only 10% shouldn't be a problem. Speak to a recruiter and ask them on exactly to get the ball rolling and talk to the VA about getting your rating removed so that you could reenlist.

Whether or not you can reenlist would depend on your RAC code. You can talk to the VA and see if they will reverse your disability decision, but you can't just undo it, or go tell them you don't have PTSD. That was determined by a Dr. It will depend on your individual situation. You really need to check your RAC code, and call the VA, I don't think anyone can definitively answer your question.

My only thought would be this; you say 'If you claimed disability.' Wouldn't that really be; 'if you were disabled?'

Did you 'claim' to be disabled or 'were' you disabled?
