does being deployed in the national guard count as active military service?

I know being in the guard isn't active but I thought that if you were deployed it is active military service.

There are 3 different kinds of "being deployed" in the national guard. One is for training, two weeks a year, this is not officially active service, you're still under Title 32. A second is being activated for state service during an emergency, also under Title 32 and while you're serving every day until the end of the disaster, it's not active duty. The third is being federalized, which is what happens whenever a national guard unit is sent to war overseas. At this time thay are transferred to Title 10 status and they are treated no differently from regular active duty troops.

When you are counting up all your active duty days for retirement points, the federalized service counts right along with whatever active duty you had before you transferred to the national guard.
