Sorry just some Historical questions i want answered thank you :)
1) Was The Continental Army a Guerrilla Army? (American Revolution)
2) How Come The Great Britain never itself moved out into Western North America like the U.S. did the 1800s?
3) Is Soviet Russia an enemy Of America(I know the Soviet Russia is disbanded but was it and still is)?
4) Did The U.S. Ever think of expanding itself into an Empire?

1. No. We were a stand-up European style force after 1777. After Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben organzied and trained the Continental Army at Valley Forge, and we began receiving military aide from the French, we were able to fight the English on their own terms. There were irregular units and scouts on both sides.
2. The French claimed much of the Mississippi River Valley and its basin. There was illegal movement west by British colonists (which was one of the triggers for the French and Indian War) but for the most part the Crown had neither the money nor desire to expand west and antagonize a foe.
3. It's complicated. After the October Revolution the US actively tried to support White elements in the Civil War. This led to a distrust of America by Soviet leaders. During World War II, we were allies of convenience. After the war, we engaged in a decades long Cold War that included proxy wars, the space race, and the ongoing threat of global nuclear war. These days we're at least speaking and trading with each other.
4. We did. In the late 19th century we acquire the Philippines, Cuba, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Haiti.
5. The Great Horde of Genghis Khan. To this day no one has equaled their combat record and they set marks for mass movements on horseback that not even mechanized armies can beat. Disciplined, well lead, and the only reason they didn't raze Europe was a quirk of culture. The Khan died, and they had to return to Mongolia to elect a new one. |
