The South Korean military is more powerful than the North Koreans but the North Koreans are far more violent. The North Koreans have no problem in shelling and killing South Korean civilians not to mention launching false flag attacks inside South Korea. It would be a huge blood bath with the U.S. caught in the middle. South Korea may have the U.S. but North Korea has China. It could lead to a nuclear war.

N. Korea has roughly 80 divisions in their military, S. Korea has about 20. The U.S. has forces posted all along the DMZ which in the case of N. Korea invading the south could be overrun in as little as a day. For the U.S. to not get involved considering the loss of life would be a slap in the face to anyone who has served and the families of those lost during an invasion.

But N. Korea lacks the resources for an extended campaign, so after the initial push they'd be hurting.

The South is quite capable of defending itself.

The South could beat the North without any ones help as long as it stayed conventional. The North knows, the South knows it and everyone with an understanding of military strength knows it. The reason the North postures is because that is all the can do. If the North pushes too far then they lose everything and the world is a better place.
