usmc and the 4x4 contract?

after you completed your 4 year active duty is it likely these days to be called back up to go to afganistan.

Every situation is different, getting selected for recall is just a lottery, but the number of people they recall is getting smaller. On top of that a lot of the people getting recalled are not in fact getting deployed, because their contract is usually getting close to ending by the time they get hit up. I myself would have only had 2 yrs and 3 months of IRR if I had gotten out, as a result of spending 9 months in the DEP and having a 5 yrs active service contract. The guys I know who are in right now that got called back are working as range coaches and have a pretty easy time of it.

Edit: It is possible to get out of a recall. If you have a situation where being called back would create undue hardship for you. But if you are actually looking for an opportunity to go back for a deployment, if you go to your musters you can sometimes volunteer for it as well.
