People are Idiots, you're not going to change their minds. They can change their own mind if they want to, but there really isn' t much you can do. Either ignore them or tell them to go **** themselves, It's about what you want to do.

I hate everybody, and there really isn't anything that you can say or do to make me a peaceful, I love everybody, hippie. Just don't be an idiot, and they will see that you are a 'smart kid' and if your joining the Marine Corps, then their concept of it must be false.

Everyone is always going to have their own opinions. In my family we have the airforce (dad), Marines (my husband), Army (me) , navy (my brother). We all agree that one of us does something better than the other and that is it. Maybe you need to consider that you can not alway change others opinions and while you should stand up for what you believe this might be one of those things it is best to let go. Good Luck!

why dont you go to the recruiters and get some of their pamphlets.I joined during the nam n attained Sgt E-5 with an excellent firing range record for 4 years.SEMPER FI-MARINE!

I would politely remind them that you will be the one on the front lines keeping their air conditioned offices safe, and that if they don't think combat requires intelligence, they have already proved themselves retarded.

You might also point out that the air force only has 17 Medal of Honor recipients, while the USMC has 297.

If they really want to boil down to "intelligence," you could use astronauts as an example. Astronauts are probably some of the smartest people in the service, and the USMC has more than twice than that of the air force.

For reference the air force as ~400,000 personnel and the USMC has ~250,000

Secondly- there is a difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is being unaware, while stupid is when you KNOW better but choose to believe otherwise. You can't fix stupid.

Keep quiet, and soldier on. Being a Marine is far more an accomplishment than being in the Air Farce. If you really want to wow 'em, the Marine Corps has been around longer, and we have not won a war since they became their own branch.

Furthermore, you have your own air force and naval force at YOUR disposal. Marines are not subservient to any force like the USAF.

Most people think the Marine Corps is only infantry. They don't realize there is an air wing with the same jobs the Air Force has and schools that are just as good or better than Air Force schools.

Well explain to them the reason you want to join/have joined. They probably still will not understand, hell I was AD Air Force and I am currently in the AF reserves and I don't understand why someone would want to join the Marines.

If that is what you want to do you most likely (at least should) have strong reasons why you want to do it and regardless of what people think. Most people are very very uneducated about how REAL military life is anyways.
