what is it like as an infantryman in the US Army?

i am going to be 17 and a senior in highschool come september and i am a pretty small kid, im 5'6" and 116 lbs. and i have been thinking a lot about joining up 11b. i just want to know, should do it and make the commitment like is it worth all of the hard work and missing out on 4-6 years of my life. also what is day to day life like overseas? thanks for the help, please answer from experience.

Being 11B will be a challenge- you must carry all your supplies as you walk into battle. Your ruck will weigh nearly as much as you.
You will have an advantage if you attend Ranger school- most smaller guys seem to do better due to the diminished rations and need to be maneuverable.
If you have to know the answer if it is worth it, you have never worked hard for anything in your life. Suffuce it to say, the greater the sacrifice, the richer the reward, so yes, it would be worth the effort no matter your branch assignment. Have you considered Armor? Your size would be a great fit in a tank |

Man your ok i was at meps last month and some guys weighed less than you do. By the way join now while your in high school you can gain rank before you leave to BCT.If your planning to be 11bravo get conditioned now dont wait.Im just like you but im in the Amy future soldier program and i have my mos already 25bravo |

They might give you some **** for being small but mostly they'll just be joking around. As long as you can keep up with the cardio and put some accurate fire downrange on the dune coons that's what's most important. |
