Literally just go to a lawyer. He/she will give you all the necessary things. A lawyer is the only way to do it legitimately. |

Why not just change your daughter's last name to your husband's after you get married? Adoption isn't necessary for that to happen -- especially now that the child's bio dad has severed his rights to her.
Think of it this way: if something happens and you and your soon-to-be-husband divorce someday, he will have half the rights to YOUR child. He may get partial custody (or full custody! Who knows?) or visitation...and you may be obligated to pay HIM child support! For YOUR kid? I don't think so.
Change her last name, but don't have him adopt her. She's YOUR child. Keep it that way. |

BEEN THERE DONE THAT LOL
I called the court in my town and asked who i needed to take to about step parent adoption got a number and called them.
They gave me some paper work and have my sons last name changed to my husband in about 2 months the only thing they asked was those parental right taken away from the bio father and a backround check for my husband.
thats in ARIZONA but all this was done for free there are lawyers here that help with parent adoption if the biofather rights are taken away.
call your family court near you and ask |

a lawyer would know what you need to do for your specific state. mostly it is just paperwork filing and a few minutes in front of a judge. |
