if you seriously can't handle the responsibility of parenting a child with special needs, then yes, you should contact the local department of social services.... i would be very concerned for the welfare of this child if you only kept "it" because you felt you had to.

I am certainly for adoption is certain cases, actually I am adopted and have 2 adopted children. But if I had a biological child that was mentally challenged I would not ask this type of question. I would love him/her and be the parent to that child that God would desire me to be. But since you did ask this horrible and ridiculous question, maybe your child would be better off with someone else.

People, I have multiple family members that are psych techs that work with the retarded and there are state hospitals full of unwanted retarded people. Alot of people don't want retarded kids and get rid of them. It's just a fact of life.
