A new pure bred puppy! NO DOUBT!!!!
Because dogs you can get rid of them when your tired of them. But a 6 year old foster kid you have to deal with the bad behavior and talking back. Well I guess you can take thier butt back to the foster home. I don't really want kids. |

The puppy-no contest. I may have to adopt, but I would never mess with foster care OR adopt a child older than an infant |

Why can't it be both?
six year old kids can be delightful and a puppy would complete the family because the kid would have a puppy to play and grow up with.
I'd go with both. :) |

Assuming I was considering both...the foster child.
Why? Language. I like to be able to ask and answer questions when I am trying to help someone. I like to ask and answer questions when I am relating to another living being. I like to "chat". I very much prefer people to animals and I don't care to "possess" another living soul. That's why I don't have pets and would ultimately decide against it.
A child, if properly cared for (and even if not 'properly') will grow up and have the possibility of choosing their own path and life. I dig that idea big time. Not because they would be 'leaving' me but because they would have the chance, and choice, to be totally autonomous. A pet (of any breed) would never have that choice...thus, having one in my home would be all about me. I don't dig that.
Also, a pure-bred puppy's entire existence is based on the fact that someone WANTS exactly that 'kind' of puppy -- kinda like a surrogate child -- it was MADE to order...pet-on-demand, as it were. That idea mostly makes me feel ill. I wouldn't do it. |

child, it can be around longer and it needs help more than the dog in my opinion although i love dogs. |

We adopted older children.
We also adopted an older dog from the pound, no pure breds or puppies for me. No amount of cute makes up for having to go through house breaking.

A 6 yr old foster child cause they need love and i want to give the child love even though im only 14.
I hope when i grow up to adopt someday and have kids of my own but i rlly want to adopt...
I want to love a child since their mother couldnt give them that.
If i could i would adopt all kids that need love but i cant.
Hopefully i can adopt 2 kids and have 2 kids. {:
And ill love my 2 adopt kids just like 2 birth kids.
{:
And we can also a adopt a puppy from them :} |

I would adopt either one. or both if i had the means. Kids need families but things make it difficult to adopt them , puppies are easier to adopt..Me I always have a crew here, like 8 kids that call me mamma, i drive bus for handicapped children and they are all mine as well..not in reality but in my mind i take as much care and time as i can, I listen, talk, and have alwasy wanted to adopt more children if I could age and money, thats the problem! So the reason is i would adopt if a child, any child needed me and I could give them in return what they need. |

I would love to take both :-)
However, if it's an either/or situation I would adopt the 6 year old. A puppy will be snapped up instantly but for some inexplicable reason people don't want to adopt slightly older children.
But really, a dog and a child are two different things. |

I have enough dogs! I would choose to give a child a home. |

I am not a dog person...we are adopting two relatives we have had in kinship care agreements.
Eights year old and a fourteen (almost fifteen) year old.!!! |

Well, I wouldn't ever be deciding between the two, if we were hoping to add another child to our family, it's not like we would discuss all of the types of adoption and then say "or we could just adopt a puppy".
We are planning to adopt again in the future, and are considering adopting from fostercare, we would love to adopt a 6 year old child from FC however, 6 years old is still pretty young for a foster child to be "waiting for an adoptive family, so the child we adopt will likely be older. |

What kind of question is this? How could you compare the adoption of a CHILD to the adoption of an ANIMAL?? |
|

A foster child :)
Kids need someone to love them. They can't survive without love. They know that nobody loves or wants them, unlike dogs. Dogs don't know love until they receive it. Besides, it's easy to find someone to properly care for a dog, especially a purebred, but it's not always possible to find someone who would want to adopt a little boy. |

As I have done both (well, the 6 year old Foster Child's Adoption won't be done till next month) I really prefer the kisses that I get from my child than I do from my canine baby! |

Our first adoption was an 8 month old baby girl and our last dog was a 3 month old pure bred Dalmatian. Other then the "6 year old" part...we've done them both so I guess our answer would have to be BOTH. |

there's no comparison - it's not an either/or kind of thing. You either want a dog or you want a child or you want them both |

I completely get your question!
But I think the covert meaning of it was missed by some others.
Brain, you are a piece of work. LOL
