can bio dad overturn adoption?

i adopted my granchild over a year ago through fostercare. taken from mother because of abuse.father lived in other state and courts published notification of intent to terminate his rights in local newspaper where we live.can the bio dad go to court and claim he wasn't legally notified?at the time of this drama, i did not have an address for the dad and did not try to find him because of his violent nature and drug issues.the lawyer here said it was not my responsibility to try to get in touch with dad.and for almost 5 years he never went through any legal chennels to locate his son.only occassionally whine dto people in the town he lived in about how he missed him and was going to get him back some day.recently he approached someone i know and stated he was goin to find us and fight for custody.
