i am not a malaysian but i was wondering if this is possible in malaysia or other muslim countries, because non-muslim girls can get married without their father's consent when they turn 21 in malaysia, so i would like to know if this applies to muslim malaysian girls as well ?
if not in which muslim countries,a muslim girl can get married without her father's consent, if such countries exist at all ?

The problem might not be the legality of it so much as the the fact that 'honor killing' is still acceptable in many areas. What does it matter if it is legal if your brother/father/uncle/cousin will burn you to death. |

No one will burn you or stone you in Morocco or Tunisia for instance. In Morocco you can get married if you are over 18 without your father's consent. I am not sure but I think that it's the same thing in tunisia, and in jordan as je said in her comment.
Most muslim countries do not cut hands in case of theft, do not stone or burn girls (burning girls is not religious it's cultural)... Media talk about the cases of violence more than the others (it's more shocking, sells better) so people think that those countries are a majority :-)! |
