Hello,
i am in a bit of a predicament...
i have been in my council house for 10 years and up till about a year ago have been quite happy...
However about a year ago the children on the estate started to grow up and hang about on the corners of streets like they do...
At the same time my brother came to stay with me,he had just been released from the army...he is big strong and considered to be a nasty piece of work my military standards..
The kids run through the gardens at night time playing games smashing down the hedges and disrupting the whole neibourhood...
The community and normal police are no good and the council proceedure seems too complicated..(all 3 has been tried to no avail)..
My brother decided enough was enough and approached the kids to sort it out and to collect proof of misdemeanours took a picture as proof to give to the council as to who is involved...
A rumour was spread as a result of the photo that my brother was taking photos of kids and all hell as broke loose.......
i now get snidy remarks about my brother (quite a come down from being a war hero), he says dont worry they are only kids,yet a brick through the window last night says otherwise..,what shall i do??
After last night my brother wants to get some mates and show the kids and the parents that is is bad to spread rumours (dont like the sound of that).....
I am a social worker and have interests to protect and my 9 years old son is getting scared...
i am too busy at work to sort this problem and i do not want my brother to sort it as hell will come with him...
What can i do?

The simple answer is that your brother has to go - for his sake and for you and your son.
Once these rumours start they take on a life of their own and there is no escaping the consequences.
The sad fact is that when we give rights to the children with no ensuing responsibilities then there are no boundaries. It is building up to a dangerous confrontation so you must take immediate action to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing. |

I'd be inclined to let your brother and a few friends have a quiet chat with the ringleaders.
If that doesn't work perhaps another more explicit little chat too explain the error of their ways will work. Unfortunately a few eggs need to be broken to solve problems like these scumbags cause. The authorities are usually worse than useless and may make matters far worse.
I've seen what these bullying little shits can do if they aren't confronted in a firm manner. An elderly neighbour suffered problems with uncontrolled youths where I used to live until I spoke to them. |

i would tell your bother not to get his mates down he only end up doing 5 years in side , thanks to this gov who say the kids are never wrong ,
The only thing you can do is keep reporting to the cops and hope they do some thing about it . |

I too stood up to a gang of feral youths, and was threatened with prison if I did not keep my hands to myself, I was forced to move
and on reflection I would have done things slightly different
hindsight is a wonderful thing, the trouble is these feral pieces of sh-te know all the tricks and the law backs them,its a sad state of affairs and Im sorry to say that people in your line of work often compound the problem, its little comfort in knowing that half of those your trying to help will bit the hand that feeds them, |
