My friend from Arizona and I (am European) are going on a roadtrip in the US. She has a license and wants to bring a gun just in case. I was wondering if there is any way for me as a tourist to get a license or carry a gun as well, for safety? If not my friend can bring hers, of course.
Please don't make this into a guns/no guns debate... not asking for opinions.

I am a tax paying, law abiding citizen of the United States and I can't carry a gun (I live in LA Kalifornia) so I know you won't be able to carry in my **** hole state. |

You can't get a license to carry a concealed weapon since you don't live here. However, it is legal to transport an unloaded weapon in the trunk of the car without a license. |

remeber all states have different laws on carrying guns so she better have the permit to carry in all states you will be in

No ..do not even touch a gun as a tourist unless its at licensed gun range
the US cit can carry hers preferably if they have a carry permit and its valid in all the
States you are visiting |

Absolutely not. A gun licence is only valid in the state in which it is issued, and even in Arizona a tourist wouldn't get one. |

A handgun license in Arizona is not - I repeat, NOT - valid in any other state. Should she bring that weapon into New York state, for instance, the minimum sentence is a year in state prison. Further, the law mandates that the judge has no option other than to impose that sentence. And as a foreigner, you will not be able to obtain a pistol permit in any of the 50 states.
We Americans treasure our Constitutional right to own certain kinds of firearms...but that right is not without its limits. And as a former police officer, I can tell you that the idea of carrying a firearm for self-protection is profoundly foolish. |

As a foreigner I would not attempt to carry a gun. Your friend may have a license to carry a gun in the state of Arizona, but that does not make it a valid license in the other 49 states. |
