Usually a first class honours degree. With one party it should be The classics or Science, or Politics.
With the other it is 2nd class from a correspondence college and in underwater basket weaving. |

The usual requirement is an upper second honours degree or better (from a proper university) to get you into the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from where you would seek a position in the Diplomatic mission. A good command of a foreign language is important (French used to be mandatory).
