If you truly want to find out, call the US state department and ask them if, by some slim margin, this is true. I will bet you will find out this is a scam.

Of course it's not true, the ambassador wouldn't contat you about money. Why not call the Embassy yourself to check http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/contact.html
If the email isn't from @state.gov or @nigeria.usembassy.gov then you are not emailing the real ambassaor

A really quick way to find out is to look at her email address. If it doesn't look like a goverment email address it's a scam. Really, if it's an email saying that you have money waiting for you, it's a scam. If it's an email with the word Nigeria anywhere in it, it's a scam.
