Yes it is! I knew a man that was paid $5,000 to marry this lady, she had a boy friend. He knew about it. He Married her and two weeks latter he died. Now I'm not sure what the out come of that was. It was my Ex. He told me he was just doing it for the money. |

Oh totally. It's illegal though. The American who does it can get fined and even jail time, and the immigrant who does it can get fined and deported. Immigration will often check you out to make sure your marriage is legitimate. |

Yes. However in 90-ties I was offered $20K for the false marriage, 10 years ago -$10K, now – pretty much nothing.
Ok, in 90-ties I looked much better. LOL!
However price for "citizen marriage" really dropped drastically in 20 years. |

It probably is. THAT is why we in the UK changed the law in 1983. Before that, anyone born on British soil was British. Now, only a person born to a British parent or a person with British permanent residence is British. For the same reason, we Brits are very tight on anyone who wants to marry here - even if they have a long-term visa, marriage is prohibited unless they can prove a long-term relationship lasting over two years so they can be granted a certificate of approval.
But as I understand it, the rule that anyone born on US soil is American is part of the Constitution so it can't be changed that easily. |
