If I were to gain citizenship to Spain, would I have to give up my citizenship in the U.S.?
Find answers to your legal question.

If I were to gain citizenship to Spain, would I have to give up my citizenship in the U.S.?

I want to move to Spain and become a citizen there, but could I still be a citizen here as well?

No you wouldn't necessarily have to, but you may want to.

The US has what they call expat taxes, which means that if you live in a foreign country, you still have to pay US taxes if you are a US citizen. There are limits on this though - you'd have to look them up.

By the way, having two countries of citizenship is called "dual citizenship". You can do a search online for more information.

Yes, you have to give up your US citizenship. Spain allows multiple citizenship with certain countries, but unfortunately, the US is not one of them, unless, you have a parent or grandparent 'originally from Spain and born in Spain'.

Spain is one of the rare country that does not allow dual citizenship :

Spain would require you to renounce your US citizenship - http://www.tumbit.com/how-to-guides/articles/116-applying-for-spanish-citizenship.html

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR US CITIZENSHIP. You can live there legally with a visa.

in response to rayven's answer, the US is a unique country,. They tax US citizens regardless of where they live on their worldwide income (there is an exemption for about $85,000 of foreign earned wages and a tax credit program to prevent dual taxation). They also, amazingly enough, tax FORMER citizens for ten years. And they will keep on taxing you after those ten years if you renounce your citizenship in order to avoid taxation. You cannot even get a visa to visit the US if you are seen as an ex-pat tax avoider.

As Spain does not allow dual citizenship unless you are a citizen of certain Latin American countries, or your parents/grandparents were Spanish citizens, you would have to formally renounce your US citizenship before you could become a Spanish citizen
