I have a heavily worn passport and would like a replacement. Will the passport number and date of experation change?

Curious1 is correct, as always. If you can't or don't want to continue to use your worn passport, you must apply for and will receive an entirely new one, which will have a new number and full ten-year validity regardless of when the current passport will expire.
If your passport is worn but not damaged, you may be able to request a replacement by mail:

Go to the federal governments web site, FirstGov.gov and work your way to the passport area. They have all the information you need on there. Including applying for the replacement on-line. |

no. the only way that the experation date be changed if it is getting close for it to be chance anyways. but the passport number states the same. |

It depends on when the passport is set to expired. If the passport is set to expire within 1 year or less, then you must submit your old passport and apply for a renewal of passport. If you have more than a year, then the passport expiration and information will not change. Please note that just because your passport is "worn" is not sufficient reason to warrant a replacement passport. The passport must be degraded to the point where information on the passport is NOT READABLE either by visual inspection and/or by scanner. Also note, due to changes since 9/11, passport offices closely scrutinize requests for replacement passports, due to loss or passport mutilation. Just by asking for a replacement could put you on the radar for Homeland Security or some other potential watch list. (Just an FYI). Also, whether you apply for a replacement passport or renew the passport, your old passport must be turned over to Passport Services with either request. |
