Visa for girl I met on the internet from Nigeria?

I met the most wonderful girl from Nigeria a few months ago, and we've been in constant touch. She's the strongest person I've ever met, she's overcome so many problems with the war and her parents dieing. She was putting herself through school while working, but it was too much for her and she almost had to give up her dream of being a nurse. After sending her $12k, I figure it'd be cheaper to move her to America and pay for her school here. How can I help her get a student visa? I'm about to take out a second mortgage to help her if we can't get her a visa. Please help!

well, she'd have to apply to a university in the US, be accepted, have the school issue her an I-20 student form and put her in the SEVIS database before she could be considered for a student visa. but she'd have to qualify on her own. the most you could really do to help would be to promise to pay her tuition, and provide some evidence of your ability to do that. Of course, they would be interested in knowing why you would be willing to pay some young woman's tuition in the US. There's no need to use the services of a Nigerian immigration attorney to do this, much less pay him $18,000 as a retainer. The fact that even came up considerably raises the level of suspicion in this. however, if you've actually convinced yourself this is real, then there's not much anyone can tell you, except don't put out more cash than you absolutely have to, especially if you've already sent $12,000. There's absolutely no need to pay a Nigerian attorney anything. He can't help on a US visa application. the visa application fee is currently $131. there's no need for her to do an immigration physical for a student visa, and the fee for a Nigerian passport is not hundreds of dollars. So, if you start seeing lots of expenses tacked on to this student application, take care. Or if you get contacted that she's gotten stuck in London or somewhere else in Europe on her way to the US and badly needs your help and money. Otherwise good luck. as with the others here, I think you'll need it, but it's your money and your decision to make.

Be careful about sending money overseas to anyone on the african continent. There has been a few scams that have come out of Nigeria specifically. If this is a real relationship however, and you want to bring her to America consider contacting an immigration attorney. They can do a quick consultation and tell you what it would cost and everything. I strongly encourage you use a lawyer and not try to do it yourself.

Ah guess what... that "girl" is not a girl at all, but a guy, and he is a scammer, and he scammed you out of your money. She (he) will keep needing you to send money and eventually it will dawn on you that he is not a she and never had any intentions of coming to America.
