that would depend on a variety of factors. Are you an American citizen? Have the two of you actually met over the past 2 years? If the answer to both questions is yes, you can file an I-129f fiance peition. however, that will take up to a year before an interview can take place in Addis. However, if he's already here, you can get married right away. Then you can file an I-130 immigrant petition. Assuming your fiance came here legally to begin with, you can also file an I-485 to allow your fiance to get a green card while in the US. If your fiance didn't come legally, your spouse wouldn't be able to get a green card while in the US, but would have to return home to get an immigrant visa back home. check out www.uscis.gov for more information and forms. If your fiance is already in the US, check out the instruction sheet for the I-485 as well. |
