Why do we care what europe thinks of us?

Nations are like people. You never know when you're going to need an ally or 8. It's nice to have some other countries to cover our backs. Allies don't have to be our lapdogs. Just like good friends our allies should be open and honest with us, telling us things that we don't necessarily want to hear.

I think it is important that the USA takes into account how other countries perceive its actions in order that you do not totally alienate us (the rest of the world). It is important for any country to have the ability to talk with and work with a large grouping of other countries, for example, not looking down on them due to them having their own political system (not a criticism of the people, merely of some of the politicians). In the UK for instance, Obama is giving the US an increasingly negative feel (although our prime minister isn't helping much). You need to create allies, rather than hostile neutrals.

Oh, and the French, never listen to them, they think that we British can't cook ;) .

No matter how big and tough the US thinks she is, she still needs support and help. If that were not the case, then why didn't the US invade Iraq by their selves? Why ask for help? Why can't the US hold up their own economy? Why seek financial help from other countries just to stay afloat?

Every country needs friends and allies. However the US is quickly pissing the rest of the world off. Has been for the last decade.

Oh and if you are insulted by the French...who called the French...cheese eating surrender monkeys?

and hello?? us americans say rude things like the french smell all the time or publicly make fun of other countries in movies or show so.... it's important to take into account both perspectives
