The marriage Visa process can take anything from 4-10 weeks typically...
but they say it can be longer...
I guess it depends on how busy they are, and how quickly they can assess the information/need to ask for followup information (it happens sometimes..)
The length of time you have been together outside the UK etc, the longer the better, will make it faster, and easier to assess. As i recall, the documents still get sent to London and back.. so you need to add this to/fro transport and admin time also (min of 1.5 weeks ?) |

Immigration law changes from minute to minute these days so I'm not exactly sure, but the underlying principals used to be along these lines:
If you are male and not British but married to a British person then the view taken by immigration is that you are the bread winner. Irrellevant of if your wife is earning well, you will have to show that you have somewhere to live in the UK and you will have to show how you are going to support yourself. Living off state benefits or from your wife is a no no.
