can anyone give any advice on how to avoid having to do military service as i have made a life here in britain and can't just leave on a 2 year service to turkey. i would be interested in hearing from anyone in a similar situation about how you dealt with it. any advice or ideas from anyone would be much appreciated. as i have no idea who to talk to or where to turn.

Regulations change.
There is lots of talk about
' tek tip askerlik' nowadays.
I'm not sure if it's valid now.
Find a lawyer in Turkey.
Consult the nearest Turkish embassy.They can't force you to return.
They can at least advise a lawyer. |

You ave to do it. I have dual citizen with a country that has mandatory service. I had to enlist, but I got out for medical reasons. It's the part of your citizenship. |

Renounce your Turkish citizenship. It'll be gone forever, but you won't have to be in the military. |

Are you certain that you have to go?
What I suggest you should do is see a UK lawyer who specialises in this area of law. Most law firms offer a free initial consultation. Possibly though you first action might be to 'phone your local citizens advice bureau for advice, if they can't help you directly, they should be able to suggest to you who could give you real advice & help in this issue.

According to this if you have worked outside Turkey consecutively for 3 years, you can pay a certain fee & only do 21 days

You need to get your hands on the rules & regulations around military service and read them thoroughly to see if there's any way out of it
You need to find out what the consequences are for not doing your military service - if you have family in Turkey, this may wind up creating difficulties for you if you try to visit.
