go to the passport office with your flight itinerary they will expedite it the same day

fastest way is to go through Tatkal scheme.Charges are little more but you get early Under Tatkal Scheme applicant has to come personally along with relevant documents .You will get with in 15 days .In normal case it takes minimum 40 days & maximum 120 days.With in 3 days will not be possible I believe.

Call the National Passport office and ask for an appointment

They will tell you what you need to bring and tell you the place to go. There are only a few passport offices throughout the country.

You can get the appointment and take your US Birth Certificate, and other ID they will tell you about. You can pay by check or credit card.

Take your flight schedule so they know when you plan to fly out -- but you probably cannot get it in 3 days unless you live in a city that has a passport office.

That office is open 24 hours with a phone line to make appointments by punching in numbers on the phone (no live person)

Good luck -- and why didn't you get a passport when you knew your child would be going out of the country in the first place.

I hear this time and tme again -- parents needing to get to their children who are on a trip out of the country and they never thought of getting a passport to go to them in case they needed their parent.

This depends on several factors, like whether your case is treated as an emergency or not. Your best bet would be going to the Embassy and asking for an expedite on your passport renewal. Perhaps giving you an entry letter of approval or letting you enter your country on an expired passport would also work.

It all depends on how your embassy treats your "emergency." The best way is for you to go to your embassy and request them to expedite your passport renewal. OR you may take the next plane back home to your country. Your country will not refuse you entry because of an expired passport.
