I'm not racist just from the exposure to my American mother's side of the family. They're so racist Hitler would say " That's a bit much, you think?" Reflecting on that, I'd say we can't hold a candle to SOME other countries. |

Everyone in the world is racist, simply because they come from a particular culture and make choices accordingly.
Muslims are every bit as racist as anyone else. |

No we are not. I think though i can understand some English peoples frustrations and views. If you lived in England you may understand why some people feel this way...........................
I don't think it's anything to do with being racist - more to do with the fact that we have welcomed them to our country and they have abused our trust.
I think your question was harsh, and i'd like to know your opinoin if it was you living here |

Again we find a statement generalising a nation of people on "solid" evidence from "yahoo answers"
I am British and most certainly NOT a racist!
But YES there are racist people living in Britain as much as I'm sure there are in your country!
I wouldn't allow the comments from a group of uneducated delinquents, who find the anonymity of the Internet a way to get a rise out of people determine your thoughts on a country as a whole.
Thanks |

If I hated Christians would that make me racist? No. I do hate Christians by the way because I hate all religions. So Just because the majority of people that subscribe to Islam have dark skin has absolutely no relevance to me disliking Islam.
Basically, you've just added to the proof that the word "racist" is used far too frivolously. These days, any sort of discussion on immigration, religion, asylum is branded as "racist" and very, very important discussion is ceased as a consequence.
In a country like the UK that faces increasing segregation of community's, it is naive, immature lefties like you that are making the problem worse. Of course there are many racists out there, but they are easily distinguishable from people who want to contest problems faced in this country by religious segregation. |

I was wondering the same thing myself! I wonder if all these code named individuals who think this is the right forum to voice their racist views would openly identify themselves! |

I'm not racist. Have Friends of various creeds and colours. Our local pub is much the same. Everyone gets on fine. I think the problem alot of the time is that self interest groups and media types tend to inflame problems which arn't really there. And sometimes end up creating them. |

First we need a working definition of "racist".Is it a person who believes that one race is superior to another? Do you believe that the Inuit race from Northern Siberia is superior at surviving cold temperatures compared to say,the Aborigine race?If you do does that make you racist?Do you think that a black man is superior at heavy weight boxing to a Chinese man,are we racist yet?Are the Islanders of Papau New Guinea more proficient at long distance running than the native Kenyan race of people? Are the nomadic Berbers of the Sahara better at surviving the heat than the Nordic race of people?Ever seen an Olympic 100 metres final? how many white people?how about the swimming events how many black faces? Some races of people ARE better at certain things than others. If we think that are we racist? Personally i admire the worlds different peoples, the black persons love of music and family, the muslims strength of their faith;well? |

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I am British and I am not a racist, but looking at this site it is quite scary what people really think!!! |

I can't help with this one, I don't know any "British" people. I am English and everyone I know belongs to a nationality all their own, almost thirty years on this planet and I've yet to find someone who calls themself British! |

I'm British. I'm not racist, nor am I anti-Muslim.
Lot's of British people are racist though, and any one who isn't white indigenous is in the firing line.
I do have one comment which may land me in trouble. There is a very small minority of British Muslims in this country who aren't in any way happy with the way in which Brits purport themselves - and call for, amongst other things, a Muslim state. This minority, who can't tolerate others, seem to have all of the media attention so this is the basis on which most British people form their opinions, which is why you see such an outpouring of anti-Muslin rhetoric. |

Er nope, actually brits (perhaps not in rural fringes) are SUPPOSED to be a welcoming bunch. |

Well, theres a difference I think, between your average man in the street who probably doesn't care much either way, he just wants to get on his life, and people who feel frustrated and angry and come on here to prove some kind of point.
Luckily, they are in the minority I think. And usually thick as two short planks. |

I think the media make people wary of other nationalities - we are all ignorant of the unknown. Todays generation of people are much more accepting of different cultures than the older generation. |

I'm not!! I really appreciate living in a country with so many different cultures and races, and I think the fact that so many people from Asia and elsewhere want to come here, is a testament to the open and tolerant society that we have. But unfortunately my feelings are being sorely tested by the attitude of some (not all) in the Muslim community who seem to hate the indigineous population so much. I find it very difficult to socialist or have any meaningful interaction with any muslim who is not westernised, we really do seem to live in separate worlds. It makes me sad, because I feel that the gulf is only going to get wider. |

I am not racist and I would hate to think that I was in the minority, but sadly it seems that way more and more just lately. It is horrible the way this country is becoming, when I was younger I always remember people using politically incorrect words, but there never seemed to be any genuine malice intended, just ignorance. Nowadays it seems that although we are more "politically correct" there is more genuine hatred between different cultures and it really saddens me.
I will watch this question with interest, and I hope the answers prove me wrong. |

YES! Me for one.
Like you I'm apalled at the attitude that seems to predominate on this site.
I'm British, white and Christian but I live in a predominantly Muslim country where I have never been treated in a rascist way. I'm free to work, buy property and to wear the same clothes that I would in the UK, I have never had any hassle due to my appearance or my faith. I wish that Muslims in Britain could be treated with the same level of respect that I receive from the Muslims here.
I'm sometimes ashamed of my fellow Brits. |
