Despite the fact we all know she deserves to have the same thing done to her, we have to rely on an impartial system.
If she has been getting threats that bad, she is entitled to be protected against being harmed or having her property damaged.
The systems and laws are written so that all persons are afforded protection under the law without fear or favour.
If it's not an impartial system it would not work at all.... even though it works fairly badly at the moment.
We would have to rely on each persons individual judgement on situations, and down that road, disaster lies.
But it's still the closest thing to law and order we have.
That being said, if i had my way, id put her in a wheelie bin, and turn it upside down so she couldnt get out, and leave here there for 3 days. |

She is a nauseating old bag. I think the brazened nature she did it has infuriated people and rightly so. People often love animals more than they do people, and this is why there has been a very sharp reaction, death threats etc due to the helplessness of the poor cat.
Nobody will actually carry through these threats as it is the first tide of anger so taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill so she gets police protection. Why not just keep her in a big wheelie bin until the fury dies down...she is a horrible horrible ****! |

She will not get 24/7 protection, I think the local tradespeople could do something about it, refuse to serve her in shops. |

This self-righteous outrage makes me laugh. People actually are threatening that woman with death. One would think she killed the cat or at least kicked it. What she did was assholish and pointless, but it was hardly criminal... We all have our bad days. She should just say I'm sorry and donate some money to the animal shelter... That's enough. |

Poor little cat my hat, what about the baby mice? the little baby blue t*ts? this little horror spends its life hunting and killing, not for food just because it can and when its finished doing that it will sh*t in your garden not its own there are too many owners of these sh*t machines who leave em out on the street all day and all night with there foul mess left under your flowers and veggies.
Put em all in wheelie bins, you sad turkeys. |

She should be prosecuted ... |

The news report is a little bit spun. FIrstly it says the cat is 4 years old, then at the bottom of the article it's referred to as a 'kitten'.
The lady is grey-haired...no mention about her state of mental health.
Of course I think it's disgusting, but I will be equally disgusted if this news report unjustifiably vilifies the story through selective editing. |

If she wants Police protection then make her pay for it. I'm sure those who would like to have a word with her can afford the time to wait until the Police find something better to do with their time, like catching criminals. |

Whoa you've earned 6 points

It's a despicable and totally disgusting act. I wonder if she has a family pet that she loves, and I wonder what she would do if someone did that to her pet? That's what neighbours from hell do. The fact that she was caught doing this on camera is good news. I know so many people that have lost cats, it's very distressing for cat owners, and now I'm left wondering if they all went the same way as that cat nearly did!
Whether she gets police protection or not, people now know her and she's a marked woman. They can't protect her forever, they'll probably have to end up rehousing her to another area, where she'll be free to do the same again! |

As someone has already pointed out, if the bins hadn't already been emptied, the cat could have been crushed to death.
Whilst she doesn't deserve to be beaten up by vigilantes (they're usually scum with criminal records), she deserves to live in fear for a while and she deserves to be prosecuted |

No she isn't. A shame the ranters on here don't bother to find out the real facts, as Detatched gives.
Never trust the "truth" from Sky or the tabloids . . . |

What she did was despicable, and if she is sane she should be prosecuted. How come we have scum on the streets that threaten and abuse pensioners, women and children but they don't get threatened. I think some people have their priorities wrong. |

i think the NSPCA should get involved
but if someone sends you death threats then you are entitled to protection
i think sending death threats threw someones door because they did something wrong is totally immature, something that a school bully would do.
my advise: if you have anything to do with a criminal you will most likely become one.
the facet is
both animal cruelty and threatening to kill are very serious crime's. |

I think what she did was despicable.
Luckily the owners discovered it as he could have been crushed to death if the bin had been emptied.
It was a really nasty thing to do but maybe she is a bit loopy.
I don't agree with threatening an older woman though.
I think a hefty fine might teach her a lesson. |

Anyone who receives death threats is entitled to protection. |

I would like to know why she put the cat in the bin in the first place. The Police have no choice but to give her protection. For anybody who is interested the law in the UK still classes cats as vermin. |

well if she is being threatened in the same way i think this is normal police procedure |

Lol...I watched the vid yesterday, and couldn't help but laugh. She was just your average woman petting a cat, then grabed it a threw it in the bin`..I think someone should grab her by the neck and throw her in the bin, but she isn't exactly small. |

She is not being given police protection. Sky News got it wrong:
West Midlands Police have said "the woman was not being given police protection, despite speculation, and Community Support Officers were outside her address monitoring a large group of people for "public order purposes as per routine police procedure"."

The Police are legally required to Protect life and limb (under i think Section 1 PACE Police And Criminal Evidence Act 1984)
therefore they would be actually breaking their own code of practise and the Law, as so many idiots have threatened to cause harm to her it is safe to say she may be in danger from Certain people.
it wasn't very nice what she did and she does deserve publicly shaming for what she did but thats it,
its abit crazy to be making threats to kill over putting a Cat in a wheelie bin, you need to be thinking what going on in the old bags head, may be she is losing the plot
and f**k all the thumbs down |

Put the stinky old fart in the same bin for 16 hours
& see how she f#%***# likes it!!!
Glad she got caught & I hope she gets charged for
Animal cruelty. In the US, she would & police would
NOT offer her protection. F#%**#* *****!!!!!!
Sorry, I have 2 loving cats that haven't done anything to
No one. Poor helpless kitty!!!!! I would love to have a 'round'
With that ole fart!!!!!!! |

let them have her .. and save our money .. sure the police dont want to do it... anyhow.. what a horrible woman... let her fend for her self... |

Considering all the hatred for this woman, I feel she should be offered police protection, even though what she did to the cat was very nasty.
It seems a shame that this incident ever happened, because now taxpayers' money could be spent on protecting this woman.
Maybe this should be a lesson to us all. |

Well.... I guess if she's getting threats from people she should be protected. Mind you, I still think she's a bit of a weirdo and a b**** for leaving the cat in the bin. I wonder what on earth possessed her to do that? =/ |

i think that fat ***** needs to be put into a bin herself - no doubt she'd get stuck on the way out |

Waste of money. she did an nasty thing - that cat could've died if it had been collection day (and I bet she didn't consider that). If anyone did attack her, I'm not saying they'd be in the right because they wouldn't, but she should live with the consequences.
Only exception would be if it turns out she's senile and didn't realise what she was doing.
A bunch of thugs in the NE killed a cat by setting dogs on it then stamping on it - they didn't get (or deserve) police protection.
edit: turns out it was just crowd control for angry people outside her house which is fair enough because her family/neighbours didn't do anything wrong and may have been intimidated.
And she did it for a 'laugh' (sick) so she shouldn't be complaining (though she doesn't deserve to be beaten up). |

Flog her in public, she's disgusting. Having seen the video evidence, its quite clear she new exacly what she was doing, even looking around to check no one was thier to see her dispicable act, she now has the nerve to say, she dosen't know what all the fuss is about, it just a cat, this alone speaks volumes about the kind of person she is, surely we can do without people like this. |
