I believe 10,000

There is no limit to the amount of cash you can carry, but if you are searched by a police officer you will probably lose control of the money until you can get it back.
Many departments have a policy of seizing large sums of money on the suspicion it is drug money, so you will have to spend lots of money on an attorney to prove it is legal money.

There is no limit. And you don't need to do paperwork for that either. Only need to worry about laws and paper if you try to deposit it into an account, or take the cash on an airplane.

as much as you want as long as you are not going through customs or anything like that

As much as you can. So long as it is legally in your possession.

You can carry all that you have. In fact, I recommend it. By the way, where will you be walking around next Saturday, and about midnight? And just how much will you be carrying?

As much as you want. Obviously if you do something to attract a cop's attention and he finds a million dollars in your backpack, he's going to ask you a lot of questions, but it's not like you're doing anything illegal.

You can carry as much as you, uhm, can.

But unusually high amounts discovered on your person will make police suspicious. They may declare it "drug money" and seize it -- pending investigation. You'll get a receipt and will be able to recover it, once the investigation ends.

Yes, one of the loopholes in the British (and, hence, our) legal system, is that although YOUR BODY can not be held without due process and all that, your property can be taken away without much fuzz...

Who cares how much you carry with you unless you did something wrong.

As much as you have.

If you carry more money than you have, that means you've taken someone else's money, and that's illegal.
