a doctor can refuse anything as long as it doesnt endanger anyone. as long as having the baby isnt dangerous to the mother's health than the doctor can refuse to do it. |

Yes. Doctors can refuse to perform abortions. That is their choice. |

Only if the pregnancy risks the life of the mother. Also, just a few months ago a ruling in the supreme court stated that they cannot refuse to do the procedure based on personal religious beliefs. |

I do believe a person who does abortion does have the right to say no, but most people who do it, do it because they believe its right. It also depends on the state |

An abortion is not considered a life saving procedure in most cases so the answer is no. |

It's up to the Doctor what he wants to do or not do. Unless he's an emergency room physician, and it's a life or death situation, then I think he's obligated to save the life, (of the mother, if that's the situation) |

No, a doctor may refuse to do anything. A doctor is not bound to remove a splinter.
A doctor is required to perform to the best of his ability IF he /she gives care. |

No, because it is a personal service and is not required by law. On the other hand, as with the pharmacists that are refusing to fill birth control or RU prescriptions, the oath of providing health services should obligate the doctor or pharmacist to know how to advise the patient - which doesn't mean "Travel 50 miles to Burg, there may be someone there." |

absolutely not. a doctor never has to perform a surgery that is against his or her morals. |

she said is it ILLEGAL for a doctor to refuse to perform an abortion. the answer is no. he can choose to do whatever procedure he wants to do and not do. |

No it isn't....My brother knocked up some 17 year old and she tried to go and get one and they refused not because her guardian didn't consent but because she was upset about it and didn't want one. |

That doesn't make sense. An ear nose and throat doctor can refuse to perform surgery on your brain, because that's not his/her area. |

No, I don't think a doctor is required to perform anything like this.
You simply need to find one who supports this. |

No it would be illegal to force a dr to perform a procedure that goes against his own personal ethics, the first part of the Hippocratic oath is do no harm |

YEs a Doctor can refuse |

No it's not illegal for a dr. to perform an abortion, however, most abortions are performed at abortion clinics, therefore...I would think it would be difficult to find a doctor that would not perform one. |

No. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's mandatory.
And if a law was passed making it mandatory for the doctor, how long until another law would be passed making it mandatory for some mothers? |

Legal on a federal level
judgeable on state level
refutable by any doctor, even if it was life threatening and illegal |

its official, willow 4th person from the top has just made the dumbest response I have ever seen.
what about freedom of choice these pro abortionist believe in? So what, the doctor cant have that choice NOT to do it? |

Not at all, it's a service they choose to provide or not to provide. Plastic Surgery is "legal" but you can't force a Doc to do it. |

No.
The amazing thing about America is that the constitution grants us free will. We don't have to do anything we don't want to.

There is no law compelling a doctor to perform an abortion, and not all of them do. |

No. A doctor can decide what operations he/she is willing to perform. If the doctor doesn't perform abotions, find one who does.
A doctor can refuse treatment for any reason. My Ob/Gyn won't treat a pregnancy in a women over 35. The risks are too great and she doesn't want to responsibility of what can go wrong. She will refer you to someone who will treat you, but personally she won't. |

No because of morals |

Remove abortion and put smoking in there.
Smoking is legal. Is it illegal for a doctor to refuse to smoke, or refuse to give you a pack of cigarettes?
Nope.
Answer your question? |

I don't think so unless they are working in a public facility like a city hospital. |
