If you had the ability to kill an evil person without any worry of the law, would you do it?

I'm writing this little story and am kind of curious what your average person would do in my characters situation. The character in question is a throwaway so no backstory or anything like that is needed. However if you had the option of just flipping a switch and killing a murderer, rapist, wife beater, or whatever, would you do it? Or would you give their pinpoint location to the authorities? (Let's say there is enough evidence against the person to be put on trial)

There would be no paper trail or anything to link you to what you did and the person in question would just seemingly die of a heart attack. So if you had the ability to kill an evil person without any worry of the law, would you do it?

BTW the evidence against him is enough for you to believe he is guilty of the horrible crime.

I've never seen Deathnote, to be honest. Heard about it but never actual watched it. This is just some random thought that came to me. lol

No, I would not do that because of the guilt you live with that you killed someone, even if they were "evil". I would although give thiere location to authorities.

hm this kind of reminds me of this anime and manga called Deathnote. the main character comes across a book which if you write a persons name in it the person will die of a heart attack in so many seconds.lol anyway, i honestly think i would kill a criminal or someone who has harmed people i love. then again i wouldnt feel like they deserved it because people can change. so it depends how much wrong they have done against me or people i know.

The question is, do you have the right? Is that person past redemption? What are the chances he will do it again? Is it for vengeance or to avert suffering? lots of questions!
If the person was a Saddam who butchered small children, or a Hitler, or an Idi Amin- and there was no way to stop the slaughter- yes I would. If he can be handed to the authorities and his crime is such that he would never be allowed to hurt again, no.
Vengeance is not a good reason, to avert suffering, and if there's no other way- welll.... that is different.

That depends on what kind of evil you are talking about. If this person had anything to do with harming a child in any way and I new that he/she was 100% guilty then I would do it without a second thought.

i wouldn't kill him myself. but I'd lock him away in a cell with a rope to hang himself and a very sharp knife. Of course I'd only do it to a person convicted of rape and molestation etc. however, not to someone who robbed a car, for that would be a little harsh..

No , becuase By Killing him or committing a murder makes you no different than that criminal. its like getting to his level which is not good.

his life is miserable becuase he always blames him self for what he had done even if he doesn't want to admit that . killing him means you are stopping his pain and you are making your self no different than him.
