if you outlaw guns..then only outlaws will have guns ! he was an alien...he had no legal right to have 2 pistols !! too bad atleast one of the students didn't have one to shoot HIM with !!!...would have saved alot of lives. |

Why was an non-citizen able to buy weapons? Why were no ROTC students permitted concealed weapons permits to protect themselves and other students on campus? Just because someone gets drunk and killed my aunt and three cousins while driving drunk I do not want them to ban cars or alcohol why should the families want to ban guns. Why not ban immigrants? The guns were tools it was the mind behind them that was dangerous! |

I'd want my loved one to have had a gun to protect himself and his classmates.
Over half a million guns are floating around this country - purchased legally. Why should only the good guys be limited? |

alright I will imagine it. but the truth of the matter is one of my family members would have blown that guys head off and he wouldn't have been able to kill all of those other people |

Why don't you think????
What if just ONE of those kids in that classroom would have had a gun, then they could have stopped that person from killing all those that he did.
Besides it WASN'T the GUN, it was the unstable person behind the gun.
That is who needs to be controlled, not the guns.
I've had guns for over 40 years and I've never killed anyone, nor have my guns. |

I'm so cool

If you want to worry about making something illegal that takes lives--then you need to make Alcohol illegal--it kills 4 times more people each year than guns--Guns also protect us, Alcohol does not protect us in anyway--even with incidents like yesterday--Alcohol is way more dangerous, and deadly yet you don't hear people demanding us to get rid of it, you know what also kills more people than guns--Car accidents, you know what else kills more than guns Tobacco--hum if we are going of get rid of things that kill us we have a long road ahead of us--maybe we should just educated, and live in a free society. |

_____________________In case you plan to read all of these answers, I'd like to proclaim that the right to bare arms is a basic right. It allows us to protect our homes and keeps us from being invaded. Because our enemies know the population is armed. But as with any right, it deserves intelligent control. |

It was not the guns that committed the crime. It was a person. So, sentence that PERSON to life in the gas chamber, and make it very public. Let the criminals know that misuse of guns will not be tolerated.
If you ban guns, only lawbreakers will have guns. So, when they choose to shoot, they will know law abiding citizens can't shoot back.

That was an isolated incident. Thousands more die from car accidents than gun violence. Should we ban cars and trucks too..... We only need more stringent background checks for anyone that buys a gun. |

I can honestly say I wouldn't blame the right to own a gun on the massacre. Marijuana is illegal but people can still get it, so why would guns be any different. |

What led him up to that point..That is what needs to be fixed. |

The obvious response is that, if some of the victims had been armed, themselves, the massacre would have been ended earlier.
Some other points that could be made:
VA laws allowing guns to be carried to do not aply on campus.
The college campus was designated a gun-free zone.
The shooter had guns in his dorm room, in violation of both the law and the college policy.
So, the shooting illustrates the folly of gun control, not the need for it. |

Because most of us are smart enough to understand that creating new laws does NOTHING.
CRIMINALS don't obey laws, hence they are CRIMINALS!!!!
So if guns were banned no one would have guns? Try enforcing that law when the existing ones aren't even enforced.
New reports "Automatic weapons were used". WRONG!!! 9mm and .22 are NOT automatic SORRY. try again!!!! |

Again, cut and paste:
As I have posted elsewhere, the crack head still gets his crack, the heroin addict still gets needles, the pot head still gets his weed, the meth addict still get his hit. These are all criminal acts punishable under our laws but for some strange reason the criminal is still able to get an illegal substance, laws mean nothing to the lawless.
Do you really think it is difficult for a CRIMINAL to get a firearm? Somehow I just don't see them undergoing a backgroud check. |

Guns were banned at VA Tech so he broke the law by going there with one. If a gun ban will guarantee not ONE single shot is again ever fired and that not ONE single person will EVER be killed or shot at again by a gun I will support it, otherwise it is meaningless. |

It was a sad thing that happened. But once again. He did it. No one made him and the gun did not make him. If a criminal wants a gun the criminal can find a gun.
If guns were to be banned then the only ones with guns are police and criminals. Just think how easy it is to smuggle drugs into this country. Now you ban guns, the amount of guns smuggled would sky rocket. If some one wants to get a gun it would be as hard as buying drugs. Which is not hard to do. |

I am in full support of all those who lost someone near and dear. I think it was wrong in every sense of the word. That said, guns will never be outlawed, because only then, outlaws will carry guns. People will find a gun, or just start using makeshift explosives. Plus this country will never change a constitutional right like that. |

If some of the students or profs had a weapon on them they could have short circuited this guy before he killed all these people. It is the best argument in the world for easy concealed carry laws. |
|

Armed Civilian
|
Because if one person had been allowed to carry a weapon, they MIGHT have stopped this lunatic. Example, because you obviously need one: Appalachian Bible College, two students ran to their car to retrieve weapons after some guy started shooting up their college.
Do you REALLY think that he couldn't have found a gun illegally to do what he did. |

I'm pro-gun. My dad and grandfather both have guns for hunting. They are responible (guns unloaded and locked up). If we take away gun rights, only criminals will have guns. Besides "People kill people". If we got rid of guns people would still find ways to kill others. (bombs for example) |

If those students were allowed to have guns, alot less of them would have died yesterday. |

I think this country would be in a world of hurt if they tried to revoke the any of the freedoms in the Bill of Rights. |

because if my loved one was allowed to carry on campus and had the training to use the gun, he/she could have saved lives by taking out the killer. |

Because criminals are always going to have guns no matter if a ban is justified. It's not guns killing it's people. |

An equal argument would be that STUDENT VISAS should be made illegal! |

That he was a criminal with a gun. I am not, so I get to keep mine to defend myself. I also am going to support NRA and the freedom to have firearms. This keeps us from being a communist nation with no rights. |

It was a horrible and senseless tragedy. What gun owners would like to know is why VT security people are not permitted to carry weapons. Any lunatic with a gun owns the campus til the police can finally get there and find them. |
