I would rather a woman abort a non-sentient and non-feeling embryo/fetus than hear about her giving birth and then murdering the resulting sentient and feeling child. I don't think it's moral to force a woman to gestate against her will. |

I agree abortion is not naturally moral. However I don't believe anyone should be 100% against abortion unless they have at least one foster child in their home. I don't see why pro-lifers thinks its moral to just give up your baby in the hands of strangers that may do who knows what to the child. Do you know how many little orphan girls get raped in foster care every year? How the children are beaten and abused? Its not easy to get adopted. Pro-lifers swear up and down that there are SO MANY people who want to adopt. But the truth is the majority of couples who adopt are the ones who are sterile. And if they weren't they probably wouldn't give adoption a thought. Do you have any idea how many kids (pardon TEENS) are still waiting to get adopted right now? |

so Sacajawea ur saying if u had the choice between being born into a hard life or not being born at all you would pick not being born at all. thats ridiculous, we have no clue who that child will turn out to be. They need their rightful shot at life especially when they are already there growing. Its not a womens life because its the childs life they are ending . I dont know how someone can justify killing something they made themselves thats living inside of them, that seems like that should go against every motherly instinct . |

Moral or not, that is just your opinion. Today's laws are secular in nature. and terminations are legal. They were legalised for several reasons, not least that it saves womens' lives. Women still sought abortions when they were illegal, often performed by incompetent practitioners in unsanitary conditions. |

I believe that abortion is wrong.
I believe that forcing women to have children they cannot or will not support is a bigger wrong.
Is that what they cause moral relativism? |

I doubt very much that there are many people who consider abortion "moral". Those who use it indiscriminately, or who have no objection to doing so, see it as a non-moral issue, neither moral or immoral. Those people are usually Atheistic types who believe all that cultural relativism crap about 'there is no morality, it's just cultural norms" and so on. So, they don't think it's moral, they just don't think about it at all.
Now, there is the other side of the coin. There are extreme environmentalists who condone abortion because they say that the removal of a human being from the system is "good for the planet". These people are misanthropy at it's best! People who love humanity and hate human beings. |

Whether something is moral or not has nothing to do with whether it should be legal. |

Most people who are pro-choice don't feel the need to use morality to support their decision. As a matter of fact, the reason why they are pro-choice has a lot to do with wanting to keep morality OUT of the question. They do not believe that the government should tell them what is right and wrong which is what banning it is essentially doing. |

would you keep a child that was a product of a rape, would you keep a child if it put your own life in danger just by being pregnant, there are so many variants to think of,you can't make a moral judgement until you know all the facts,i can see your point but it all comes down to individual Choice, which is about all we have left. |

"We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer." - Opinion of the Court (Roe v. Wade) by Harry Blackmun |

Because some people believe in the fact that life does not begin at conception, but rather when the fetus is a viable person. Thus, abortion prior to that point is not murder or whatever you would prefer to call it.
Others, while believing that abortion is unethical, also believe that the government and other people have no right to tell a person what is right and wrong - that access to abortions should be available and that everyone needs to make the moral choice based upon their own ethos and morality. |

- if the baby is going to be born into a family that cannot cope it might be fairer
- if the baby is going to have disabilities/illnesses then it might be fairer]
- it might be the result of rape |

It's not that they think the act of having an abortion is in itself, "moral." It's that they believe that the government should not be able to take the right of choice away from women over their medical issues, including terminating an unwanted pregnancy. The only thing they think is moral about it, is the "right of choice," and if the government can dictate womens' reproductive and medical decisions, what else can the government dictate? It's more of a Constitutional substantive due process issue, than a religious or moral one to pro-choice advocates. |

Because if the baby had a severe disorder then it would be better if the child was not brought into this world. Also, if the parents can not afford to raise a child or they can not cope then it would be better if the child was not tortued. |

The simple answer is that they have a different moral outlook to your own. They rank things differently, in importance, to yourself. Society recognises this and often has to come to a compromise or consensus on such matters when it comes to law making. Abortion is such a matter, and few people, on either side of the debate ,will ever agree with any law passed on it. |

Why do some people insist on trying to enforce their morality on others?
Are you so wise? |

No name.

Im pro-choice. That means I would give people the choice if they want an abortion or not.
I think not allowing people to make a choice is immoral. |

"Morality" is based on religious bias. Just like a Christian wouldn't want a Muslim telling them that the God they believe in is the wrong God, so do people of one faith (or no faith) want people of a different faith telling them what theyre doing is immoral. |

because people have the right to make their own decisions and i can think of many situations that children should never been born into. |

A lot of people think it is immoral to bring a child into the world if they can't take care of it, etc. |

Because not everything that you are 100% against is immoral.
Why should an underage girl made pregnant by rapists have to obey your wishes?
Some people think it's more moral to provide abortion that's safe for women rather than force them to undergo risky back-street abortions. |
|

Go outside and play.
 |
Why do some people think it's any of their business what a woman decides to do with her pregnancy?
If you genuinely want to open up the "moral" can of worms, I'm happy to oblige.
There is NOTHING more immoral than bringing an innocent, completely helpless being into a world where they are not wanted, cannot be loved and cared for, and will inevitably lead a fruitless, miserable existence and repeat the pattern of their parents ad infinitum. |

Just because you are 100% against something does not make it immoral. |
