I'm in favour of it...

Death for murder. But i dont see the thing in the rape cases. I dont think that someone should be put to the death penalty for rape. Prison yes. I see it as an eye for an eye. So maybe a rapist should be raped.

stanleys_2001
I'm very much in favor of it.

The statistics indicate that it doesn't DETER criminals... but for sure... the person being KILLED won't be doing it again.

Child molester, COP KILLER... you bet.

i am totally in favor of it when it's used properly, however, it is not being used properly so therefore should be abolished until the legal system changes.

It´s okay, as long as it´s not too severe

I believe we should enforce death penalty on every mojor offenders, murderers, rapists, drug users , child molesters and armed robbers....then our society will be more safe for the vulnerable ones. Animals with human form should be treated as animals. Anybody argues for the animals are probably making excuses for fearing that some day he/she would commit the same crime.

i'm in favor of it. i think they should use it more often. you hear about some of these crimes these people have done and they deserve to die in the same manner in which they did their crime. it's wrong that it takes so long for a person to recieve the death penalty.

mrsgilleland
i believe its never ever right to use it. though shall not kill. i also don't belive in our courts, because it's not mans place to pass judgement.

viablerenewables
Many gang banger have considered suicide. Death doesn't scare them. So why would they back away from doing a heinous act if the punishment was under pain of death. Since our present death penalty is we put you to sleep there is no pain. Our present death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment for those that haven't committed a crime yet, but would be if there was a deterrent.

destine4_69
When the person commits a crime that deserves the death penalty--then let the state do its justice!
If the crime is not totally proven that the person committed--then no!

Without Laws, there would be pure bedlam! Take 9/ll, anyone involved in using an airplane, as a bomb to kill innocent people should be fried!!!!There have been innocent people on death row. Look at some of the cases, where 25 years have passed and a crime was solved, that someone else committed. It is for this reason, I believe life imprisionment is better! Those, who take life for any reason, don't deserve life!

Everyone has a right to descide 4 them selves

Wrong to use it? Well, I suppose if you getstopped for a speeding ticket that would be out ofthe question, but if someone plans to kill, has the ability to kill and the means in which to kill, then kills, that person gets my vote for the death penalty. Now, add torture, dismembering the body, disposing of the body, well, that just adds insult to injury, and that person is digging him/herself a deeper hole.
If you don't want to die by the law, then don't kill. It's as simple as that.

I think that if any entity has the right to put someone to death, it is the government. Thus, I do not feel the Government should overall give up that right, Timothy McVeigh is the best example why. Thus being said, I think it should be rarely used and, truth be told, by percentage of criminals, it is very rarely used. But we should be able to do it in such a way that it isn't painful. This seems ridiculous to me that in this day and age, this is a problem.

i am strongly against it for a couple of reasons: it is arbitrary meaning the courts have a say who is gonna get the death penalty, it does not solve the crime rate, and there's racial bias in that blacks seem to get more executed than whites, not to mention illerate, poor, and unemployed persons, are more likely to face the death penalty. these are some of the motives y i am against it!!

miracle_sincere
I am for it. Why should someone take another life and expect that the only thing that will happen to them is jail. H... no they should suffer just like the person who life they took.

Sandylynn
It's right to use it when there is perfect proof that the person purposely took a life, with no thought to that person at all. I think, in the case of evidence, that only one appeal should be allowed. If no new evidence is shown to cast a doubt on the guilt of the murderer, then they get the chair, shot or whatever is quickest. I'm even willing to consider the murderer's feelings and make it as painless as possible, even though they didn't think of their victim's feelings while murdering them. With all the modern technology available, it's fairly easy to prove someone took someone else's life. The wrong time to use it would be for anything other than murder. You take a life, you lose yours. It won't bring the victim back, but it gives respect for life and makes the criminal see that his actions will be punished. The reason crime is so rampant in our society is that everyone knows that there are no serious consequences for their actions. The jails are so crowded that the judges give a light sentence so that they only spend a short time in jail, then they're back doing what they please. Jail doesn't rehabilitate as much as it used to. Jails are too much like spa's or condominiums. They get their 3 hots & a cot, with fringe benefits that those of us on the outside have to pay dearly for. I know a few guys who look forward to getting busted so that they'll have eats and an air-conditioned cell for the summer. We need to make jail strike terror into the criminal's mind. The best way to do that is with making the punishment fit the crime. I have a lot of respect for Lorraine Bobbitt! <*)))><

I personally couldn't do it, it's not my call nor my place. Jesus help those that think it is.

I don't want to be the one taking another human beings life. I have been with many people when they died and it's very emotional...at least it was for me.

I am greatly in favor of it.

I also believe that anyone issuing quotes from the bible such as "thou shall not kill" needs to realize that there is another little bible saying.. " An Eye for an Eye ".

It is so easy to sit on ones high horse & say that it Is a violation of an individuals civil rights to sentence him / her to death...
... HERE'S A REALITY CHECK ! Any individual that choses to purpossfully & malishisly commit a hanus crime against another person.... HAS FORSAKEN ANY & ALL CIVIL RIGHTS THEY MAY OF PREVIOUSLY BEEN AFFORDED !

Regardless of all the religious & political view points it all comes down to this.... If it was your son / daughter / mother / father / husband / wife.... If it was your family member that suffered an agonizing death because some inbreed peace of $^*!#!! decided to target an inocent victum....

WHAT WOULD YOU THINK THEN?!

I think people should be weighed by their own standards.
For example if someone has approved the DP for someone else, they should be eligible to have it approved for themselves.

I think the death penalty should only be used when the person has killed like a whole lot of people or is a threat to America

naughty and nice
I'm on the fence with that one. There are good points on both sides.

I think it depends on the specific case/crime. I do believe in using it but some cases do not warrant it. I do, however, do not believe that we use it enough. Some people do things for not reason and I think we should be more aggressive towards offenders. And I do not like that people have to wait in jail for 15 years before it is carried out. I think in a clear case it should be ordered and done within the week.

I believe the essence of the question is diffult to answer. I have not had one of my siblings speak to me for about five years. They decided if one of our parents was near death, nothing can be done to save them. Due to my religious convictions, I did not agree and our father is still living. But since I have been living in China, my mother died. I have said I will investigate her death, to see if my mother's wishes were honored.

The death penalty is a violation of human rights, regardless of whether the death row inmate violated someone else's human rights by killing them. We do not have the right to play God. I resent a judge to decide death for anyone. I also resent the fact that I have been shunned from being on a murder case, because of my views on the death penalty. That is a violation of my right of expression.

No judge has any right to tell anyone they will die for their crimes. The case I should have been on, the man was found innocent after eight years. This was because picking out the jury was a tainted system, violating the rights of a poor man with no education. In effect, he was sentenced because he was poor and uneducated.

I read where some of the answers were against the Islam people for cutting off the hand of a hungry boy for stealing food. He was also treated with injustice. The boy has a destroyed life just for being poor and hungry, the same problem the innocent man faced.

If a jury decides a man should die, the prosecutor, judge, and jury have killed the man. They are no better off that the man charged. But remember, the man was innocent.

God is a jealous God; he does not want us to worship any idols; he also does not like us to be God by killing a person charged with killing.
