aren't you sposed to get a 15min break for every 3 hours and if you work over 5 hourse you're sposed to get a half hour break. you may not be paid over ur breaks. but there should be a government site on the net saying all this..

uhm yes lol

Your lucky you even get a break at all. Law says that when working a 6 hour shift you are entitled to a 10 minute break, working any less, then it's totally up to your employer.

depends on which state you are in...but usually according to rules you are supposed to get a break every 2 and a half hours...if you work 8 hours you are supposed to get 2 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch..if you work 6 hours you get 2 15 minute breaks...if you work 3-5 hours you get one 15 minute break and if you work 2 hours no break....thats how it is in virginia....

in oklahoma, we are not required to have breaks if you work under 8 hours. after that and you have to have at least 30 mins. figured this out, because an old boss started me out a 6 hours with 2 10 min breaks, worked there for three months, she took it all away.

Yes it is legal. A 'break' is not mandatory for your employer. A 'lunch/dinner' break after a certain amount of time is required. Each state is different, I think.

The ability of people to 'work' in today's world seems to be lost. People are so lazy at their jobs that it is shocking/disgusting. That is one reason America is in the financial trouble today- people do not get much work done, but want to be paid to sit around, talk on the phone, whatever.
Are you so lazy that you can't work 6 hours without a break? Well, let me tell you to not go into a nursing career! We routinely work a 12 1/2 hour day without any breaks or any lunch or dinner! What are we supposed to do when I have someone come into the Emergency Room with a heart attack- tell him, 'Oh sir- just lay right down here and die- I want to go get lunch and I will be back in 30 minutes'. You do the job until it gets done! Buck up!

Who watches the watchers?
Ummm.... no. This sounds like capitalism at its best just be lucky you aren't sowing shoes together so that some douche bag (like the one you work for) can go to walmart and get a great deal on their products.....

If I were you I would look up my states labor board and report this pig asap

What Country are you in? I f you live in the UK and were 18 and above you are entitled to a 20 min break for every six hours you work, you are also entitled to 11 hours break in between shifts, you are liable to work no more than 48 hours in 1 week. Employees that work night shifts must work no longer than 8 hour shifts in any 24 hour period: a night shift would involve an employee to have worked at least three hours between 11pm and 6am. you are also entitled to at least 1 day off per week

An employee aged less than 18 years old (from the minimum age of leaving school) is entitled to a 30 minute undisturbed break for every 4.5 hour shift they work. They are also entitled to 12 hours rest between each work day and are further entitled to two full days off each week. Employees are not liable to have toilet breaks without the consent of their employer. However, for the sake of your employees' health, it is better for them to use the toilet freely.

I work four hours, no break. 6hours, 15 min UNPAID break, 8hours, 2 fifteen min breaks or one half hour break (ALL unpaid!).

it depends on your state, I know if you work an 8 hour shift you are to get 2 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch

Aussie_Chica
In a six hour shift, you should be entitled to 30 min break and in a 5 hour shift you should be entitled to a 15 min break.

Edit

Obviously "ilmbg" has not heard of occupational health and safety and his/her motto must be live to work instead of work to live!!!
