hi all, i recently looked for a summer job at gumtree, and literaly applied to nearly all the jobs on offer, then the next day i gt a reply, saying these are your duties.
They send me a cheque in which i clear it into my account
I deduct 10% of that for myself
And the 90% is sent of elsewere.
Im just wondering, is this legal.

sounds like a scam to me. I would quit and go to your bank and explain the situation that your account might be compromised |

sounds a lot like money laundering which is highly illegal and if you are in the middle of it and get caught, you could spend a few YEARS in jail for it.... |

You've been scammed if you already sent that 90%. Eventually the check that you deposited will bounce, and you'll have to pay the money back to the bank.
If you haven't already sent it, don't. This is a very common scam right now. |

and they will probably use your idetinty and clear your account
because you need to pay a "fee" to get the money outta the account first

If it sounds too good to be true it is -this is a scam they just want your bank info. why would anyone legal need someone else to cash their checks for 10 percent when there are legal check cashing places that would be cheaper |

That is a SCAM. As soon as you send them the 90%, the check will bounce and you will be out the money.
There is no free lunch. |

This is a scam and you should know better than to get involved in something like this. Of course it's illegal! There are warnings on craigslist, news shows, and all over the place about scams like this. How could you fall for this? Wise up fast or you are vulture food. And the vultures are circling you, even right here with this post. |

Definitely not legal, if it were legal, why would they have you keep anything, why not cash it themselves? For further evidence, put some of the words/phrases from where ever you heard about this into google and you'll probably see posts on RipoffReports.com Watch a court show and you'll see one of these stories every couple of episodes.

No, it is very very illegal.
Avoid it like the plague, it is either a money laundering operation for which you could get to take a holiday at her majesties pleasure or it is an version of the 419 scam in which you will lose a hell of a lot of money. |
