Is it really as hard as everyone says it is to find a good job with a felony.Or is it that people who have?

Yes it's hard. They'd choose someone w/o a felony over someone w/ one anyday. They don't know they can trust someone w/ a felony even if they have really changed.

i have a misdemeanor charge and it is difficult for me to find work, so i could imagine for someone with a felony it is even harder

It's really not that hard. Does you state have a reintegration of offenders program? You can find out at your local workforce office. There are many employers that hire felons for tax breaks, etc. It is hard to find a job now period. Do not let a felony hold you down. Don't use it as an excuse.

no unless you want to handle money most employers will hire an ex convict because they get huge tax breaks from the government

People try to say that felons don't change, but the reason most end up back in prison is because nobody would hire them.

Like anything else, the more bad stuff on your resume, the harder it is to get a good job. You are competing against other people for that job and being a felon puts you at a disadvantage, though not insurmountable... unless it involves the military or banking etc...

Then you are out of luck.

its not what u know its who u know. get to know the people on top, make an impression on the people running the jobs u want, most times if they like u they will give u a chance.

Not just a felon but these days an employer can look at your facebook and myspace accounts present and past and it either helps or hurts your chance of getting the position.

I guess it depends on your goals. I want to be a doctor but am not going to med school because I have a felony on my record. you can get a factory, construction, or minimum wage job. but many of the good jobs are no longer because of immature stupidity, self inflicted.
