Is this a bad idea ? honest answers?

Is this a bad idea ? honest answers?

I am a minor, I'm sixteen and want to go shopping tomorrow with my friends, the problem is I'm currently grounded and don't have access to my car or cell phone. I'm thinking of finding the keys to my car while my dad's at work and if I can't find them then I'll find the keys to the Tahoe. Also does it make a difference that my dad's the sergeant of our local police force ?
Additional Details
Unless I get stopped by any officers how would my dad know ?

Ultimately useless Guy
you are only 16 once. better to ask for forgiveness than... well... you already don't have permission.

Your thought pattern hurts your Dad more than you can ever realize. Your actions will just drive another nail in his heart.

Stop thinking so selfishly of yourself, and do what is right...grow up, is what your Dad is trying to say to you.

Yea, no I think this is a horrible idea. If you take the car you can get charged with grand theft which can cause a whole lot of problems in the future. No mall is worth the trouble.

Your dad could call home to check on you and make sure you are home. Heck, he could drop by and find you not at home. Someone who works with your dad could see you out and about and mention to your dad in passing that he saw you out shopping, not realizing that you were trying to hide your trip from your dad. Something could happen while you are out with your friends to prevent you from getting home on time. Just sayin'.

Your dad will know. All parents were teenagers, and what we did is fresh in our minds. We were as sneaky as you are. Some of us were worse than you could imagine. We pretend that we have always been sensible adults that never did anything wrong, we pretend that we never got in trouble because we do not want you saying, "You did it, why cant I?" We know all the tricks and we find out EVERYTHING you do. If you want to take the chance, I certainly cant stop you. But think about your actions before you do them and think about the consequences before you ever do ANYTHING.

Coralina
Yes it is a bad idea. Wait till you are no longer grounded.

I suggest you respect your parents' decision to ground you, and demonstrate some understanding of the issue and remorse for your behavior. Don't trash your relationship with your parents and the trust they deserve just to go shopping.

You said you wanted honesty. Practice some yourself.

Yeah, I don't think you should do it. It's really risky and you'll probably suffer consequences worse than being grounded. ^_^

Lolitta Ball Of Confusion
It's a very bad idea, just wait until you're no longer grounded

aha yea its a bad idea. the fact that your dad is a sergeant means that he WILL find out and that you WILL get punished.

You're grounded for a reason. It's punishment for something you weren't or were supposed to do and yet, you want to push the limit? Are you a glutton for punishment? Start being responsible and accept your punishment till it's ended. Then try to extend that responsibility further by obeying the rules of your household and your parents. Respect and trust is a two way street. If you want to earn it, you must provide it.

ZonieGirl
Let's just assume that you will get caught. Parents have a way of finding these things out. Trust me. Then ask yourself if it will be worth it. Being that your dad is a police sergeant you will probably get in even more trouble and it will reflect poorly on him especially if something bad happens on your adventure. Your parents are only looking out for your best interests and no one else in this world cares more about you than they do.
