for every 4 hours you are entitled to a 20 minute break paid or 30 minute break unpaid(depends on the company policy). as for 5 hours you are entitled to a 1 hour break which 5 hours with no break is the limit by law. also you are working too many hours a day which is illegal but would be consider as over time pay. |

no it isnt. you allowed 2 x 15 mins and 1 x 30 min break in an 8 hour shift. most places work 12 hours only and you should get a minimum of 9 hours off between shifts ending and the next starting. |

If you are living in the USA it is illegal. You are supposed to have two (2) fifteen minute breaks and one (1) thirty minute lunch break for eight hours. Your company has the right not to pay you for your lunch break but most companies pay for the fifteen minute breaks.
As long as you have eight hours in between your finish time and start time it is legal- I worked in the health care field and ended at 11PM and started at 7AM next day. |

if you have a legal contract, and you pay tax you have the right to sue the compnay as this is illegal but first you have to have witnesses for that as they might deny that, why not ask a lawyer or citizen advise bereaue what to do to claim a compensation. |

Your only allowed to work 12 hours. |

|
The labor law states that you are entitled to have a break after four hours worked. The break constant of ten minutes plus five minutes traveling time. Lunch time at least thirty minutes; this time is never paid time.
In a normal work shift of eight hours you would be entitled to two breaks plus lunch time. You can not combined your breaks and lunch together. You can not take a break or lunch time during your last hour of work.
You need to contact the department of employment and the labor department so your employed as be educated by the law. There are heavy fines and penalties for this type of behavior. |

This is not legal
Nearly all workers have the right not to have to work for more than 48 hours on average, a week. Night workers cannot work an average of more than eight hours in each 24 hour period. Workers aged 18 and over (adult workers) are entitled to one day off each week. Workers aged 16-18 (adolescent workers) are entitled to two days off each week. Adult workers are entitled to eleven hours consecutive rest per day, and a minimum 20 minute rest break if their working day is longer than six hours. Adolescent workers are entitled to 12 hours consecutive rest per day, and a minimum 30 minute rest break if they work for longer than four and a half hours
You should contact your local Health and Safety office as your employers are in breach of health and safety laws |

Depends on where you are. If in the US, some states have laws requiring breaks, some don't. In the US there is no federal law requiring lunch breaks or rest breaks.
The people who gave specific answers or said it's illegal are apparently giving them for THEIR state, or THEIR country - without knowing where you are, no way to tell. |

your entitled to one hour lunch and 2 fifteen minute tea breaks, it is also law to have 11 hours off in between shifts here in the uk, go to citizens advice for the best way to handle it, |

Under the uk law you are entitled to a 20 minute break for every six hours worked. The breaks must not be taken at the start of the shift or at the end and must be away from your work station. This is the minimum requirement and your employer is breaking the law. Many companies give more and are more flexible, but you should have your rest breaks documented in your contract of employment or offer letter.
According to the working time directive you should be having at least 11 hours off between shifts but as you are a security officer you may have opted out of this agreement (although the law is about to change on this again).
You need to request a copy of your contract from the HR department and ask your employer what provisions he has made for breaks. Check out the acas web site this will inform you of everthing that you are legally entitled to. |

Do not know where some of these answers have come from, but obviously not from experience or knowledge. Your total hour limit is 16 hours. Every four hours you must be allotted a 15 minute break, after 6 hours or more a 30 minute lunch break. |
