my husband is being bullied at work :( i'm scared i might have just made it worse?

my husband is clearly being bullied by the supervisor and has been for about 3 yrs now. yesterday he threatened his job so i decided enough is enough, and rand the company to speak with the manager.

i told him that i didn't want anyone to get into trouble and only wanted them to resolve their differences as it is clearly affecting my husbands home life.

i also said that my husband doesn't know i am ringing to talk about this.

he said that i should not worry and he will have a word with them.

problem is the manager and supervisor are extremely good friends both in work and out.

my fear now is that the manager will have a little word with supervisor and that they might try to get my husband out of the company now.

omg what have i done. i only wanted this to stop and i think i could have just made it 20 times worse for him.

i know he cant be fired as a result of my phone call, but they could start looking for reasons in the future to remove him :(

my hubbie is a shy man he does not like confrontation in any way.

it is very much my problem as well. we have 2 children aged 3 and 1 and i am currently pregnant. i can not sit back any longer and say nothing when my husband is clearly depressed and not enjoying his life anymore.

There is a reason it used to be acceptable to beat ones wife. And actions like this are the reason. There is no possible positive effect your call could have. I think you owe bother your husband and his employer an apology.

Had I been your husbands supervisor I would have very politely told you, "Sorry, you have no standing in this matter I do not discuss employee issues with 3rd parties." And then explained to your husband the same thing.

What on earth do you think you were doing calling the manager about a situation which really does not concern you?

This is a situation which your husband must sort out himself. Having his wife call to fight his battles is certainly not going to help him whatsoever.

Contact, or get your husband to contact, a union, and/or an anti-bullying organisation, and if you haven't already done this, start keeping detailed records of what happened or was said, and when.

Three years is a long time for the bullying to have gone unchallenged.

An uncomfortable situation! Hopefully, nothing will alert your husband to your phone call, and you haven't said anything to him. Whatever happens, the will to change a situation can alter the course of events. Be supportive, and try not to be a bully at home too. This meant without any malice to you. It's not worth the job if your lives are made miserable by it, a new course of action may be best. Good luck and be positive.

What I advise your husband to do is to keep a diary and make a note of everything that happens at work with regard to his supervisor (what he has said, done etc). It is a way of covering his back, by keeping of note of events that have occured he can use this as a point of reference if it ever comes to this. If they trying getting him out or anything he can use his diary as back up/evidence.

Unfortunately bullying goes on in companies and unfortunately some people the higher up they get the bigger their heads get.
