I understand that their was a lot of American pressure on the French to stop them resupplying the Argentinians with more Exocet's. I am looking forward to the film version where that was the sole conflict (war) winning strategy. |

they will say with some justification that a lot of the intelligence on the Argentines was supplied by them.
by the way German mercenaries were a major factor in the war of independence ! |

dude.

Did you really need, or want, or even ask for our help? There's just no pleasing you people, you ***** when we stay out of it, you ***** when we get involved, you ***** when we try to avoid war and you ***** when we go to war. |

FIRST OF ALL THE FALKLAND ISLANDS WAS NOT A WAR IS WAS HARDLY A BATTLE. WE WOULD NOT LAY CLAIM TO BULLYING A BUSTED COUNTRY AROUND.
SECOND WE WHIPPED YOUR *** FOR INDEPENDENCE. YOU BETTER READ THE HISTORY BOOKS, NOT THE BRITISH VERSION OF THE EVENTS BUT THE WORLD HISTORY VERSION OF EVENTS.
DID AMERICA SAVE YOUR AZZ IN WW2? OR WAS THAT A MYTH ALSO? |

Falklands nope you did that one on your own....no help from us....but as far as the revolution goes we beat the crap out of you.. it was a war of attrition and we lasted longer...then we beat you again in the war of 1812....or did you let us win that too??
you guys were doing a smash up job against Hitler too now that i think about it...if it weren't for us you would have herr in front of your name... |

The only way America helped was in selling the RAF and RN sidewinder missiles which reeked havoc on the Argentine air force. We also sold them the SEA KING and CH-47 Chinooks that were so important in this campaign. |

Well, we dont lay claim to helpping you. Although we did give you moral support as well as send our carriers into the area in the event that one of yours was sunk. Thankfully it never happened.
As for your statement about " giving us our independence".
Your joking right? If not, there are many books on the American Revolution. Perhaps you should read a few of them. |
|

Nah. You guys won that one fair and square, just like we beat you during our Revolutionary War.
Of course, to your credit, the soldiers fought well you just couldn't get the support from your country because of Napolean. |
|

Flagbearer

No, it was fought soley by British troops using British equipment, though the Americans WANTED to help, and by the time they were ready to do so, the Falklands War was over! |

This is the one conflict in the 20th century that I am pretty sure you guys won by yourselves with minimal outside help. Once you laid claim to this HUGE island which takes at least 30 minutes to walk across, you could strut proudly in the streets, right guv?
I guess we won our Independence by your Royal grant in much the same way that Hitler allowed you guys to come to back to the Islands he took from you during the war, was that the Jersey islands? You seem to have a hard time hanging on to land with a "Jersey" in the name.... |

you'd be surprised who helped us,,and yes the Americans did help us a great deal, with the use of intelligence and the Ascension Islands and a lot more,,the French helped an awful lot as well, |

Nope we sure can't, Why? because we didn't fight in falkland... You allowed us our independence? Please after we beat england shortly after they became a democracy., |

Since when did the Brits "allow" us to gain our independence? Was history rewritten while I was away? |

Whatever. The Falklands were won because of the courage of Madame Thatcher.
Our independence sent King George over-the-top into total insanity. Brittian did not allow us to be independent, we won it through attrition. Parliment realized that commerce was the reason to establish the colonies in the first place, and more commerce would be had with an allied colonies rather than a resentful and rebellious colony.
Parliment decided wisely that the war was unwinnable and unprofitable. |

Not American or English but may i ask what would you have called yourself today if the Americans did not help [beat] the Germans out of Uk. You would have been called a German, not so. Don't be so unthankful. |

allowing them their independence? THe pansy Brits got spanked. they had no choice but to leave us alone. they did not want to lose their whole empire on the little colonies? Who follows who to war these days? |

Nope, nothing to do with them. Next question.. |

Wait for the film. I'll bet Tom Hanks liberates Goose Green.
Still they did win WWII for us and solve the Enigma code and flew all the planes in the Battle of Britain. I suspect Churchill was probably a Yank. |

No.....they steered well clear on that one. |

?

Argentina had a stick...you British had a gun. And I think it is very easy for you to see who would have won.
SO, DON'T MAKE A FUSS ABOUT IT. IT WAS UNEVEN GAME.
WITHOUT US IN WWII, GERMANY WOULD HAVE SUNK YOUR ISLAND, PAL. |

Yes you allowed us to defeat you during the American revolution..thats how you allowed us our independence.? Strange analyse but ok believe what you want to believe..
Its an historical fact that America gave logistics and supplies to the royal navy..so yes we can lay claim to helping during the faklands war ! |
|

I believe they did help with intelligence and surveillance |

To say the United States and England don't share military "intelligence" and other shared assets would be furthest from the truth.
It's sad to see the position you take on whether or not the United States "won" or were "given" their independence.
I'd prefer to say that sadly both sides of the Revolution lost lives of which was unfortunate.
Instead of trying to "rub against the grain" by slurring who did what...suffice it to say that Americans won their independence because ... that's what history shows!
A very GOOD book written by David McCullough, "1776", shows stories from BOTH sides of the war. Mistakes made by both governments and personal diaries from soldiers who fought in the war!
Look at how similar our countries are and the common things we share instead of who's better than whom!
Best wishes! |

Stupid Marxist

Nope, you Limeys can claim all the credit for that one.
Good show, old bean!
Your Harrier jets proved quite useful. We Americans approve of this technology and even retain some of these in our military. Again, my compliments.
EDIT: As a previous poster stated, the CIA did share intelligence and allowed you the use of our spy satellites. However, you may consider this a minimal contribution and you likely could have been victorious without it. |

Firstly we did allow you your independence. It was decided that the war was to expensive and unnessecery. Less than 1500 British died in battle ( 18500 died of disease ) were as 8000 Americans died. We only had 60000 soldiers, 30000 of which were German mercenaries. The Americans had 250000. It was also Britain against France, Spain, Holland and the Colonies. When you come to think about it it wasnt the greatest achievement by the US. Without help from your allies we would of won and many of you probably wouldnt exist today because the British didnt take to kindly to uprisings and usually slaughted the people involved.
As for the war of 1812. No side won, the US was terrified of the British who swept through there armies with ease and the British were finding the US armies tactics difficult to handle although victory was only ever going to be for the British. Again the war was expensive and hard to keep going but it ended the US ever trying to invade Canada again and the British trying to regain the Colonies it had given up. Basically both sides gained nor lost anything.
The Falklands was 100% British. We fought it we won it ( very common when talking about the British ). Fot you Americans who say " wow you won a war against a vastly inferior army " can i remind you of a nice country called Iraq? You cant beat some ragheads. We might be there but we are doing much better, even having nearly got peace but then the US does something stupid like send 21000 troops over?. Then again you lost in Vietnam to a bunch of vastly inferior soldiers. Just remember that Britain doesnt underestermate its enemy and has the greatest military record of all time. In 1000 years we have lost no war ( wars are lost through surrender or capture of a leader/capital city ). Pretty good for an Army that once controlled the world with just 30000 soldiers.
Britain would never of been conquered by Germany. We defended our country and the Germans decided the better leave us alone so you Americans can stop saying that bollox cant you............well done, doest the truth make you feel better. There was more chance of the Germans taking over your country than there was ours after the Battle of Britain and Germany had plans and it was to be there next move because they couldnt ever beat Britain. Thankyou and goodnight.
