What do they eat in army basic training?

I'm just wondering what they eat in army basic training, like a list of what they usually eat or something like that.

You eat whatever slop the chowhall serves up.

I remember a lot of chicken. Meatloaf. Lasagna. Pasta. Hot dogs. Normal breakfast stuff. Typical American fare that's prepared not too well most times. The only meal that I have a very clear memory of was breakfast on graduation morning. We had steak and eggs.

Dinner is usually an entree of some sort, some vegetables, a salad and a dessert.

You don't get stuff like coffee or soda though. It's bug juice, milk or water.

They eat raw steak.
That's how tough they are.

You got to eat whatever they give you fast so it doesnt really matter, Its pretty much just cafeteria food with no salt. MRE - meals ready to eat are gross unless you get to keep the candy.

You eat relatively simple, balanced meals. One meat, one starch, one vegetable, one fruit. Breakfast is good, lunch is okay, and dinner is terrible. That's pretty much the way it is in every Army DFAC, both in and out of basic training. When you're out training, they put food in these thermoses called mermites and you eat it out there. You'll also eat MREs - Meals Ready to Eat. Overall, the food is okay.

Pretty much whatever they can shovel into their mouths in the time they're allowed to eat. High calorie foods are especially valuable because of the level of activity they face on a daily basis. Grits are apparently very important. LOL.
