I think windmills and wave energy are more suitable
It`s not toxic and last much longer.
USA Should close down all it`s nuclear power plants
And think of global savety

Having nuclear power, ie powerplants for energy & power, is one thing, having the capability to create nuclear bombs is another. And unfortunately it is the later that frightens the world. I don't think anyone would have an issue with any country trying to create better energy sources to modernize, enhance life for it's citizens, and expand technology. There though is a history with Iran, and other countries, that they can't be trusted not to create something destructive and there is a bigger fear that the weaponry will be used to catastrophic means and ends.

No group of people that believes they have the right to forcibly convert you to their religion or kill you, should not have any power what so ever. Especially nuclear weapons. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp?

Well Chris certainly has his facts wrong. The President didn't say that he wants to wipe Israel off the map. I have spoken to an Iranian friend of mine about this and he was telling me that the Western translation of what was said was wrong. Was he really said was that he wants a washing away of Israel. When I asked what this meant, my friend told me that it means the system needs to be changed in Israel. Israel need to realize that they can't dominate the region and that other countries and people exist there too.

Iran has every right to nuclear power. I don't see why they shouldn't develop nuclear weapons either. it would balance the power in the middle east. Israel would then be forced to negotiate with Muslim countries rather than use force backed by a nuclear threat.

These people can't even control the folks in their own country... how could you trust them to control nuclear power? I can guarantee that someone that worked in the plant would either be bribed, threatened or already work for Al Quaida and get some radioactive material to make a bomb (nuclear or dirty). Then the worlds problems would be just beginning!

Is your name really Rip Van Winkle? Did you just awaken from a 20 year nap? Iran says they want it for energy. Ok, great. However you need to read between the lines.

The Pres. of Iran has publicly stated in the U.N. he wants to hasten the return of the 12th Imam that will lead the believers to paradise (you know, the whole 73 virgins thing?), and the non-believers (that would be us) to you-know-where. The only way to do that is to bring us into a war. How does he do that?

1) Create the Caliphate in the ancient city of Babylon (what we now call Baghdad).
2) This puts him within striking distance of Israel. By nuking Israel, which we are sworn by treaty to defend, this drags us into it and that will ignite the middle east with the "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" Philosophy. This means the PLO (the enemy of my enemy) becomes their friend and they'll join the fight as well.
3) They'll do it over there becasue they can't reach us over here.

You need to understand that in Islam it is ok to lie when you're at war. He says it's for energy, but it's really not. Also in Islam, you must give your enemy three warning before you attack, and also a chance to get out. He's given the three warnings, and the way out is to convert to Islam, which is somthing we're not going to do.

Iran can have all the nuclear power they want to have.

But Iran has to decide, whether they want nuclear power and no trade relations with the rest of the world.

Or to have trade relations with the rest of the world and no nuclear power.

That's the nice thing about trade relations, each country is allowed to decide what other countries they want to trade with.

No country has any kind of inherent right to have normal trade relations with other countries, that do not want to trade with them.

In the case of North Korea, they decided that they would rather have normal trade and diplomatic relations with the rest of the world, more than they wanted nuclear weapons.

Now Iran gets to choose.

What do they want more,

normal trade and diplomatic relations with the rest of the world,

or Nuclear power.

The choice is theirs.

Be more specific. When you say power do you mean power plants or bombs? They are one of the richest oil countries in the world. They live in the desert. Why don't they use the money for solar and wind energy? Heck, they an burn the oil for energy.They absolutely should not have Nukes. Any and all measures should be taken to prevent that from happening.

well me being a United States Marine, i have a bias opinion. but they shouldnt have nukes or nuclear power because they cannot be trusted. they will use them on us or on one of our allies. when that happens we will be in another war and the civilian population is not ready for us to be involved in another war. the only way to retaliate when attacked by a nuke is to launch more nukes.

Ok, so you want to put nuclear capabilities into the hands of a man (Ahmadenajad) who repetedly says, "death to Isreal, death to America." and who flat out denies - and has removed from books in his country - that the Holocaust ever happened, claiming the U.S. made it up? You want to hand nuclear capablilities to a man, who by all ideals wants you, me, and everyone else who takes part in western culture and any religion other than islam to suffer and die?

Because their President says he want a nuclear bomb to blow Israel off the map. He does not say this in private either, he says it on TV. He has said Israel will be destroyed in a fireball.

Israel already has nukes, they will retaliate by nuking Iran. Then all of the Middle East will be at war.

They should however if you believe them to be a threat to you then i believe you have the right to disarm them with force

(i am not referring to Iran specifically i would say this whatever the country was )
