Changing PSI while driving off road?

I only got out mainly on weekends to my local tracks, which are mainly gravel, mud and some water holes. there is the random rocky hill climb. so i was wondering what Psi i should set my tyres (hankook dynapro MT) to for that sort of terrain. my current is around 36 for the roads. and if you could tell me for sand and that would be great aswel

Lower your tyre psi to around 20 for sand. You need a 12 volt tyre pump to re-pressurise your tyres to go home.

Don't do any rocks or mud holes. All MY time is spent in sand dunes. I always air my tires down to 10-12 PSI in the sand for better flotation. The tires become "fatter" that way. Leaving them at highway pressure GUARANTEES I will get stuck within 50 FT of leaving the road.

I wouldn't go under 30 psi for that. tires are meant to be inflated somewhere closer to the maximum psi listed on the sidewall. if you go over or too far under that psi you can risk the tire not performing as well as it was designed to.

It depends on the weight of the truck. I put my 3/4 ton GMC at 15 PSI and one time it popped the bead off, but I slid into a mud hole a little sideways. Ask other people if you are in a off road club or try to find a forum and ask if any members have experience with a truck similar to yours.
